Hello,

Can a double halo engagement ring have fishtail prongs? Or would double claw prongs be better?

Thank you.

I don''t understand your question.

Claw prongs are for the centre stone.
Fishtail prong set pave is a style for the melee diamonds in the halo.

You will have to rephrase your question if you would like a more informative response.

I may be wrong but I believe the OP was referring to fishtail prongs to hold the center diamond, as in this topic: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/please-share-your-fishtail-prong-solitaires.69906/

Personally, I think they would be distracting on a haloed ring (especially double). Just too much going on. I really dont see how
the halo can be close around the diamond with the fishtail prongs holding the diamond...so I just cant picture it and when I do
try its not really attactive (like I said, too much going on).

I think fishtail settings look fine on solitares.

BTW - do you have any pictures of fishtail on a halo...it may change my mind.

Now that I know what you are talking about (from nicki in the thread posted here) delicate claw prongs done by a someone skilled would be MUCH better. Fishtail prongs as you call it are like a halo but in only metal. So you would have 3 halos around your centre. Way too bulky, in contrast you will see many single and double halos with claw prongs and it works very well.

I would stick with claw prongs, the fishtail prongs really only work well in solitares and a very few other vintage settings. Clawprongs look lvoely with halos though, as long as they are delicate...

I have similar type prongs on my ring and I cannot picture it in a halo at all honestly. To me they should be on a solitaire or like on my ring with small accent stones on the side. Too much more and I think it takes away from the beauty of the prongs and makes for a very chunky/bulky look.

Personally I think a double claw would look wonderful.

Do I have a long memory or what, lol.

I wouldn''t do it--I think it would cover up too much of your diamond and be busy looking.
