Thank you Miss Skippers. Frankly, I think we all rock.

To be honest, I don''t care for the setting at all. I''d go with the larger diamond and Excel diamond''s Tiffany replica setting.

A D''Vatche, which GOG also carries. One of my faves.

I love this setting and this it would look gorgeous with a 1 caratish size stone. Love the Ritani''s too and the workmanship of both designers is wonderful.

still, neither are inexpensive and I really do think you should find out what your GF would want. some gals would opt to spend more on a fancy setting while others wouldn opt for a solitaire sinking the whole budget into the largest stone possible. Since it''s going to be her ring, i think finding out what she''d want would be a really great idea. If you want to keep the proposal a complete surprise, you could possibly have GOG set the stone in a temp. setting for the proposal and then you and she could choose the permanent setting together.

re: the setting you posted...i''m not a big fan of it personally, but again, what she thinks is what matters

Thank you everyone esp. Ellen. I really am lucky to have found this site. ( Although I am far more confused lol ) .

I will be looking over each site after my Dear GF falls asleep. What''s making this tough is I want it to be a complete surprise. The bright side is she is going to get a "sick" stone.

As a sidenote, curiously I wonder if the ages of all us have a impact on our tastes in engagement rings. Im mid 30''s, GF late 20''s.

I''m sure age does play a factor in taste, but with an awesome stone from GOG she is going to be drooling no matter what setting you finally decide on.

Ellen gave you some nice starting points (I like Vatche, but their prices and my budget didn''t see eye to eye). Personally I like the look of channel set stones to give your setting some pop while still letting your center man star. Micro pave and 3-stone settings might also be options too.

Having fun yet

Interesting about ages. They range on here from early twenties on up. Something to possibly keep in mind is that tastes change over the years, so you might want to go with something a bit more "timeless", unless you wouldn''t mind her possibly wanting to change her setting in a few years. (or less!)

Here''s a good thread for you too look through, it''s of rings that gals on here have had made by many of the vendors. It''s nice in that you get up close views and hand shots.

The setting you posted is a little "dated" and reminds me of rings that were in fashion more in the 80''s-90''s
