Hello everyone!

First time poster, and honestly new to the diamond world all together. Planning on proposing in the next couple months and need some advice. I've done some research over the last week, and I've determined that I want a cushion cut.

My budget is approximately $6,000, which would include the diamond and the setting. As far as stats I was looking for something in the 1.1-1.3 carat range. H-I in color. VS1-SI1 in clarity (although if it's eye clean I wouldn't care about it being a SI2)

I did go in to some retail stores just to look around, and it seems like you can get A LOT more for your money with purchasing online. Are there better places to look for cushions?

I appreciate any advice you can give!

Thank you!

You can find the links to the websites of these vendors by clicking on the Resources tab in the toolbar. These vendors sell a lot of fancy shapes, such as cushions, and can provide you with photos, ASET images (read about ASET and fancy shapes under the Knowledge tab) and will view the stones for you in person and give you their evaluation of the stone's appearance, inclusions, etc. If you decide to go with a round stone, there are many vendors who sell GIA Triple EX and AGS Triple 0 round brilliants; again, take a look under the Resources tab. Post the information about any stone you're considering here, as well as any settings, and ask for feedback. Make sure you put any stone you're interested in on hold (it's free) with the vendor before asking about it here -- lurkers sometimes buy stones out from under people.

ETA: Saw you're definitely looking for a cushion.

Thank you both for the help. I'll search for a couple and post them here to get your input!

Alrighty,

I did a little bit of looking at the various sites you all posted. How do we feel about this one?

Is I color too low?

Appreciate your advice greatly!
