Most jewelry insurance runs $15 to $20 per thousand, per year. For a $15,000 piece, that would range from $225 to $300 annually.
If you did get the ring appraised as we were talking about on the other posting, and got an appraisal in say, the $10,000 neighborhood, you would save $75 to $100 a year in premiums, and still be adequately covered in case of loss.
An example of how a good appraisal saves you money instead of costing you money.
Most people usually insure through their homeowner's insurance. If you don't have homeowners, Chubb & Jewelers Mutual are two companies that will insure jewelry only.
