First Time Buyer

I am looking for an engagement ring for my wonderful gf of many years It seems the more I look at diamonds the more I realize I do not know what I am doing!

This is roughly what I am thinking at the moment:

Carat: .7
Cut: Best within budget
Clarity: VS1 - VS2
Color: G - I (I hope this color grade would be appropriate with a yellow ring)
Budget: 4-5K CAD

If you don't mind the J color go for it!. The six prong 18K YG solitaire setting is very common and BGD should have it in stock.

If you are dropping down to a J, I would go with this one. Talk to Whiteflash about the setting you are interested in at BN and
see what they have that is similar.

I'd also consider this stone at BG since it's an I color and he makes sure the stones in his line are eye clean. The fluorescence will also help with the color in certain lighting:

Or this J which also has fluorescence and would save you a couple hundred:

I personally liked the idea of BG blue but my GF does not want a fluorescence diamond... lucky I brought it up with her before I purchased one!

Thanks for the reply. I just threw J out there cause I heard you can go fairly low in colour before it is noticeable.
I will try and not go below I; I think size isn't as important as ensuring the diamond is ideal cut, no noticeable colour and eye clean.
