Okay, I need some help! "Our song" is Lifehouse''s "Everything," but it''s very LONG and I don''t really want either:
a) My guests to get bored, or
b) Anyone to think I''m an attention whore (wanting to be the center of attention for 6+ minutes)

Any thoughts?

Creative editting by your DJ? Or by you with the right software? I know a couple of people who have some software that edits the songs, speeds them up, slows them down... allows you to splice, etc. I'm sure you could do it, or have it done. Or, if you are having a band just have them shorten it.

Another idea is to have the DJ ask people to join you on the floor after 2 minutes or so. First your bridal party, then parents, then everybody.

Gypsy had some good ideas. I don''t think people would think that you were just seeking attention -you are the bride. They will be watching you anyways.

However, if you don''t want to be up there for 6+ minutes (that is a long time to be dancing in circles), I''d just have the dj fade the song out (or edit it if fading sounds terrible).

Honestly, just think about how you pictured your first dance and go for it. Many aspects of your day will be chosen for your guests...keep this one to being all about you and your husband and what you two want!

I like all the ideas given. I''d talk to your DJ and see what he can do -- as Gypsy said, maybe he can edit the song or fade it out after a certain amount of time. I also like the idea of inviting guests to join you at some point in the song, if you''re set on using the whole thing.
