I just reserved a baby paraiba today. I''m waiting for some cash to free up so I''m really really hoping it comes through in the next few days so I can buy the little guy! It feels like mine already. This will be my first gem purchase so I''m nervous that it won''t turn out well.

Here''s hoping!

Do you have a pic? Is it from a reputable vendor? Is it from ebay?

It''s from artcutgems.
From what I''ve read on here I think they are reputable...

Very exciting! I want pictures!!

This one?

Namibian blue-green tourmaline, when available, comes close in color to the “neon” hues of famed Paraiba but sells at a much lower price. What this little gem may lack in “glow” it makes up for in brilliance. Weight approx. .74 ct., calibrated to 6 mm. for standard setitings. Fine modified Portuguese cut and much better than eye clean clarity. No treatment of any kind. (All uses, N).

ETA: picture didn't work, will try again

Okay first picture...

Okay well here''s the link

Do you all think it''s a good buy?
I''m nervous to spend so much money but it''s sooooo pretty.
Yes, ArtCutGems is reputable. At least you know you''re not getting a piece of glass that someone says is a paraiba tourmaline. It''s a pretty stone, but please post pics when you get it. They''re quite expensive stones, so I think you paid a fair price.

Thanks TL. I know you know your tourmalines, so I feel relieved that you think it was a good buy.
I''m so excited to share pictures with everyone. I guess what I''m most worried about is that it will get stolen on the way.
You just never know in South Africa.

I am paying extra for insurance, just in case.

PS doesn't like the "%" in the file name. I'm sure it will be a pretty little stone.

I''ve never bought from Martin so I''m definitely interested in seeing your pictures.

Thanks for posting the pic!

I have been communicating with Rick, and he seems great. He says the picture pretty accurately depicts the color and the stone is quite neon.
I''m so excited!

So far I only have beautiful stones from Rick, he has a good eye. I bet it''s lovely.
How long until you get it?

Rick seems really genuine and I pretty much trust that if he says it''s pretty and neon, it''s pretty and neon.

If my money comes through this week I will pay for it this week. I''m not sure how long it will take to get here?

I can''t see the pics

I''ve never bought from him either. But people who have seem satisfied with their purchases.

Rick''s a good guy and I''ve found his photos pretty accurate.

Kismet, those are some stunning rings!

TL, I just saw the cuprian photo you posted and I love it.

You really have beautiful cuprians.

Thank you Kribbie!

The color is exactly as depicted in the vendor picture.

I don''t have my own pics yet but will take some as soon as I can. I''m also waiting for a blue topaz I bought to arrive, so I will probably do a photoshoot with both.

I must also add that Rick is amazing to work with, and I would highly recommend him to anyone.
Thanks everyone for all the advice.

Ooh, I can''t wait to see your pictures! What are you going to do with it?

I don't know yet. A ring seems like the obvious choice, since it is quite small. I was considering this setting, maybe with 2 baby pads on the side (I think the colors might be quite complimentary). But I'm open to suggestions.
