I''m so excited...a good girlfriend and I are taking a long weekend trip to NYC over Labor Day!! We are staying at a hotel in Times Square and hope to see all the sights. I plan on lots of shopping and figure since I have been looking for a pair of diamonds to have set as studs, that I might be able to find some while in the city. Can anyone recommend where I should go? Is there a diamond district?

By the way, I''m looking for 2 ctw RB. Not too concerned about the clarity as much, but would prefer nothing lower than H in color. My husband found a pair of 1.02 I1/E and 1.03 I1/F (1.3 and 1.6 HCA) for about $7600. Seemed kind of expensive to me. Any recommendations?

Sorry for all the questions, but I''m really hoping to find a nice pair and be wearing them when he comes home on R&R leave from Iraq. Thanks for all of your help in advance!!

Though it''s too much work (Mark at EGR can do better, can''t he?), here''s one at $2906...an E I1, 1.01 carats, that scores 1 TIC...that gets you half way there. Using his site, he presents only certificate numbers, so you have to a) invoke report check, and then b) run it through the HCA for your analysis. But, it gets you there. If the second one I tried would have been a pretty one, you''d have had a pair. Just use the big db here, and you''ll get there. He''s a well regarded vendor here.

Do not go to the diamond district unless you have a reliable vendor in mind!! ERD and Superbcert are located in the district. I''m sure PSer''s can give you other referrals. I would let the vendor know I was coming and what I was looking for, so they had a choice to show me. Good luck!

Mark at Engagement Rings Direct is in the diamond district and is a reliable trustworthy vendor. You DO need to make an appointment however.

Hi delighted

I live in NY, and have been to the diamond district several times. I LOVE to walk up and down the streets and drool over the goodies in the window displays-so I know that you will have a great time with that. Just be prepared as some sales people there can be quite pushy. As long as you are informed about diamonds, and you know what to look for you should be fine. I helped my girlfriend a great pair of diamond studs at a great price but in order to do that we encountered a lot of pushy salespeople and we walked away from a few so called "great deals".

Get there early as almost everything shuts down at 5pm, and the shops are not open on Saturday, some are on Sunday and as for the holiday???

For high end shopping-5th ave and if you have time, and like unique stores I would go to SoHo.

I hope you have a great time-and it looks as if the weather will be great for you too!
