@AGBF as I read your post to Elliot I wished your father could read what you wrote about him and hope he knew how much you loved him. It was a beautiful post.
Until the last six months of his life, when he really wasn't himself, I think my father knew how I felt about him. And even during the last few days of his life, he took ice cream on a spoon from me, and not from his aide, Derrick. But my brother and I both are in awe of what he was like as a father. We never spoke about this until he was dying, but a chaplain from Hospice sat with us and my brother said how he always felt inadequate as a father compared to our father. (My brother, who is the best father in the world!) When I interjected how great my brother was as a father, my brother said that if I predecease him he wants someone to have my comments on the record to be read at his funeral!!!
But I thank you, Callie. And I want to add that there are many posters here who are very faithful to their liberal principles, and who are more like my father (and Elliot) than I am. I am not going to start naming all of them, but I admire them. I know that I sometimes appear wishy-washy compared to other liberal posters. My father never understood how I could be on very friendly terms with my Republican next door neighbors in Virginia, who supported Trump. I won't attempt to gaze at my navel and analyze who I am and why I act the way I do in this posting, but I honor people who stick to their principles.
Thank you for commenting, Callie.
Hugs,
(((Callie)))
