Finding an appraiser?

Will any jeweler do? What sort of certification am I looking for? I have a diamond band to sell ( worth 10k ish) and want to provide an appraisal with it. The stones were earrings that were made into a 3/4 eternity band. So the appraisal I have is for the earrings not the ring- same stones, different jewelry now . It's the last piece of diamond jewelry from my ex, and with engagement in sight, I realize that even though the ring and stones are exquisite, I don't want anything like this piece that reminds me of my ex. TY

It is recommended that you use an independent appraiser - not a jeweler who sells jewelry - to make appraisals. There is a link in one of the tabs ^^ above with Appraisers by area. There are also some PS members that are independent appraisers on the board.
