Finally reset my engagement ring! Sapphire with step cut traps:-)

We got married in 2009 and my husband did a wonderful job creating the sapphire three stone ring of my dreams on a budget, but the small half moon side stones were not lively and it always bothered me, plus the setting was pipe cut and would be uncomfortable when my fingers would swell. He was very sentimental about the ring so wasn’t open to resetting it nor to upgrading entirely. Finally this year we both were comfortable with resetting with new side stones. At first I wanted smaller traps but I fell in love with these. A sleeker setting, icy white diamonds, tiny claw prongs, and my deep blue sapphire looks so pretty!

The diamonds are flashy and fiery and make the sapphire look amazing and has great finger coverage on my size 7.5-8 finger. I have had this carre cut band for years —it was an eBay find—but I finally got it sized up. They are perfect together and it also looks wonderful with my Tiffany etoile ring and on its own.

Can I ask who did the setting? It's perfect! And I'd love to know the stats on the sapphire if you didn't mind; it looks wonderful on your finger and the proportions are spot on!

It looks lovely! I don’t know if we talked about this back in the day but my engagement sapphire is very similar to yours. Your gorgeous ring is making me think I should set mine again annd wear it!

Dreamer, yes our sapphires are very similar and I remember when you set yours as a three stone!

Here more info and some quick photos, if the sun comes out tomorrow I will get some great pics bc they are so fiery it’s amazing!

Sapphire is 6.1 x 4.71 x 3.23, unheated and untreated from the natural sapphire company (my husband picked it out)

The step cut traps are 4.7 x 3 F VS 1 from Israel diamond.

Setting was done by Mansoor fine jewelry in Palo alto, ca, it is a stock setting they ordered and I believe they ended up sending it to an outside bench as they had some staff changes. It too longer than I thought but they were lovely and it looks exactly how I wanted it to

Old setting was done by the natural sapphire company and I don’t recall the details on the diamonds….

The carre band is an amazing eBay find. It is set in yellow gold and I’ll post the specs when I remember them. I’ve had it for about 10 years, I initially planned to use the stones for a project but it’s too pretty and nicely calibrated to break apart so I am going to enjoy as is for now.
