Okay, I believe after nearly 9 years I am ready to pop the question. I have been lurking in these forums for a couple of months now and after much research still find myself more confused than ever. I do know that she wants a trillion cut side stone setting and I think I have found the one at abazias.com:

http://www.abazias.com/database/NewEngagementInfo.asp?stock=ENG-SS-99-10746

Now the hard part for me is choosing a stone. I know that I want a princess cut as the center stone above 1 ct. Ideally I would like to get the stone from abazas also to make it a little easier. My budget is around $3500-4000 for the center stone but have no idea what to look for even after reading over many, many, many "diamond learning centers." Anyone have any suggestions.......................................please?

Welcome,

I would check with Abazias if they offer photographs and ASET images of their Princess, otherwise it is very difficult to judge the all important cut of these shapes with just the depth and table for information. Make cut a high priority, then for the budget I would look at SI clarity grades ( GIA or AGS graded), make sure these are inspected by your vendor to be sure they match your expectations for ' eyecleanliness.' Colour, same labs as mentioned above, I would look at G or H colour and if needed to help the budget, I or J even.

If you would like, we could have a look for you and suggest some diamonds which might be suitable?

Thanks for the suggestions Lorelei. I will contact abazias soon to ask for photographs and ASET images. These are two that I found that I might be interested in:

I know you said to look for GIA or AGS grades but I believe one of them has an EGL certificate. Thoughts, suggestions?
You are most welcome!

With both, ASET preferably and detailed photos are needed as you know, with the second diamond you will need to find out which branch of EGL has graded this diamond, I believe it might be EGL Israel which are said by some experts to be softer on grading than AGS/ GIA and some of the other EGL labs such as USA. This page explains how the grading labs rank.

Let me know if you get the images!
