Finally looked at loose diamonds this week

I finally got a chance to look at sime loose diamonds this week and noticed that some diamonds of the same cut and supposidly the same carat weight look like different sizes. Does anyone know why?

It's the proportions. Some stones are deeper and have smaller diameters, while other stones are shallower and have larger diameters.
