Finally I need some pearls! Where to buy test sizes?

@yssie posting her new pearls has made me realize: yep, I need some incredible Pearl studs!

But where to buy a tester size? Amazon? It’s not easy for me to try on in stores, so I’d like to buy some cheap sizes to test. I don’t think I want button pearls. Should I buy plastic or are there some cheap real pearl studs around? Thanks for pointing me in the right direction! I’m thinking bigger size, I like to make a statement!

Do you have a ballpark idea of the size you like, based on images you've seen? Pure Pearls, for example, has a page showing different sizes on a model. (scroll down past necklaces to see studs images) https://www.purepearls.com/pages/pearl-sizes

If you've narrowed it down a bit you can buy some fashion (imitation) pearl studs online or in stores. e.g at Claire's

Thanks for the link! I’m thinking 12mm. I’m hoping to buy the exact mm size so that I know what to order when I get a pricey pair. Thanks for the tips! I’m sure I can find them on Etsy just wasn’t sure if any Pearl people had a pro tip on where to go.

I like these for fakes because they’re actually round, so they show you how far a spherical pearl is going to protrude off the ear -

But they’re way lighter than real pearls - I think the only way to test weight is going to be to find somewhere you can actually try some on, like @pearlsngems said. I personally need to use Lobe Wonders or BlingDots with anything over 11mm.
