This is what was written to me in the email:
We've also had these diamonds inspected by one of our graduate gemologists, and the feedback is a little interesting. While it appears to have the weaker idealscope image, diamond 227317 is actually the most eye catching diamond of the two. It has great fire, brilliance, and scintillation and performs stronger than your other diamond. There are occasions where idealscope images can be misleading, and the gemologist has confirmed that this is the case with your diamonds. It's completely eye clean and has a true "I" color. Diamond 211035 is eye clean and has a true "I" color, but isn't as bright due to it have a more shallow depth.

Thoughts from PSers?? Entering numbers in the HCA the first diamond scored a 0.9 and the second a 2.4!

Interesting! I'd go with the gemologist's recommendation.

Also, the table of #1 is verging on too big for some people's taste.

very interesting indeed! I was hoping the idealscope which be a huge deciding factor for me. lol but of course in my case it always something else!

I'd trust the gemologist's eyes. JA is pretty honest, and they're pretty much telling you which one to choose, based on real life viewing conditions, which is what you'll be doing. You won't be looking at it with an idealscope all the time, will you? ;))

When shopping online you do have to trust the expert recommendations as they are the ones w eyes on the stones. In this case I'd def go w what the JA gemologist is recommending. However, if you can swing it, why not ship out both and see for yourself?

Can you do that? Then you'll be certain for yourself which you prefer.

I agree with Enerchi, I think that I'd like to see them both for myself if that was a possibility. If not I would have the stone the gemologist recommended sent to you for a personal inspection. How do you plan to set the stone?

I agree. There's been times when I absolutely don't understand the GG's rec from JA and it's been contrary to what everyone else would have chosen, but in this case I do see what they are getting at and agree. I think it'd be even better if you could see both before setting if it's at all a possibility.

This is very bizarre to me.

Diamond 1:
HCA = 0.9
Great Idealscope

Diamond 2:
HCA = 2.4
Idealscope shows leakage

As others have commented, no one would have chosen Diamond 2... in fact, most would have rejected it before obtaining an IS image! But according to the gemologist, Diamond 2 looks better in real life than Diamond 1.

The first one has a tweaked girdle, which JA says is reducing brightness.

i actually only asked for an idealscope of the first diamond lol. JA recommended two others, one of which i did not like but this second one was okay so I was like why not lol. I was hoping the first one was the winner and that the gemologist would confirm it lol! I can't ship both out :(( but I will probably just have the diamond the gemologist recommended shipped out to me to view.

is a tweaked girdle a really huge issue? I haven't really looked up too much information on the girdle.

I would personally trust the JA gemologist - they are right there and looking at it. Knowing that, I'd feel comfortable with what they recommend. I'm eager to hear your assessment when you view it!

You can also pick 2 more to have IS's done on and they can chose the best one of the bunch to ship to you. (you probably knew that, so sorry if I'm repeating old news! ;)) )

brighteyes--You might want to have PSers find another diamond that fits your criteria (price and specs), and then have a JA GG evaluate it vs your current choice before shipping. Honestly, I wouldn't buy a diamond with leakage when you can pay the same money for one that doesn't have leakage.

Is this something you saw on the image? JA did not say anything about a tweaked girdle.
