Any final thoughts on this diamond?

http://www.briangavindiamonds.com/d....605-i-vs2-cushion-diamond-ags-104076825003#!

I have the diamond reserved for 24 hours. I Skype'd with a representative today who showed me the diamond through the low quality video chat. It did seem to look nice and it looked larger than I anticipated. She offered a Pricescope discount and it just seems to be priced right. So is it my turn to pull the trigger!?!?

I haven't really looked at cushions much but wow that is a pretty diamond.

It looks gorgeous. I wouldn't hesitate if you are wanting a cushion. Brian's signature stones are beauties. I/VS2 is my personal sweet spot. I think this stone will be amazing.

Love it. I just bought a 1.4ct H&A cushion from Brian Gavin and it's still processing but they have been a pleasure to deal with.

The BG H&As seem to have slightly more variation in cut than the Brellia, particularly in smaller sizes, but this one looks very clean.

It looks really good, nice size for a cushion as well.

Thanks everybody. I'm going to head to the bank to send the wire payment.

Can you explain the difference between the two styles please?

They are different faceting arrangements, which create different visual effects.

Here is a good primer on some of the different cushion cut styles that exist, highlighting some of the differences:

It's not that Modern cushions are superior to Hearts and Arrows or another other faceting pattern - it is a matter of preference.

Very informative, thanks for the link : )

Note - while the second diamond posted is heavier, the original poster's diamond faces up larger.

You are incorrect.

The BG stone has square dimensions of 6.84mm (measured edge-to-edge). Rough surface area = 46.7mm

The GOG stone has dimensions of 7.03mm x 6.69mm. Rough surface area = 47.1mm

The confusion is understandable, as the cushions from BG are noted on AGS certs differently than any other cushion.

You can read about the odd way they measure these here:

Received the loose diamond today! Looks great!

The bad news is that I have to wait a few weeks for it to come back, mounted in the setting I chose!

Very nice!

Size looks excellent.

I'm sure it's nice to know that part of the process is done and you ended up with a great result!

Thank you!

Funny you mention the size, I'm giving a local jeweler my business for the setting and I was interested to see how they would comment on the diamond when I brought it in. The sales lady I've been working with has been nice and somewhat helpful. She had an in-house GIA graduate look at it. He said it was nice, but this stone is hiding size in the depth? I thought that was interesting because 6.84x6.84x4.70 seemed to be as large as or larger "face-up" than diamond of similar carat weight. The depth is 60.x%, and most other cushions are in the 65-70% range.

I am glad to have finally chosen a stone. Not sure I could have done it without the help of the Pricescope community. Now I'm anxious to get the finished product back. And nervous as hell as I need to decide how and when I'm going to pop the question!! :naughty:

CUSHION87!

How did it go? I was reading your posts and in seems like we are in the same exact boat! Loved the henri daussi setting, waiting to hear a quote on the price, and now in search of a diamond! Would love to see some pictures if you can post :) it would help us out!
