Final 2 contenders - smaller H vs larger I?

AAAAHHHHH!!! I'm so excited, and it's not even my ring! [emoji12]

Oh, wow, a half mile from DK! That is pretty convenient! :appl:

That is really funny, msop, that you realized we BOTH have I color stones! That hadn't crossed my mind!

I just don't think she's going to see enough difference in AGS H and GIA I color, unless the I color happened to be low I. I don't want to put a damper on an otherwise great idea, but I do not think pictures will show the difference in color accurately...or at all. It is hard to get into a lighting environment that would do it. I have had the most success outside in natural daylight, but you have to be careful to not get reflection from leaves, etc. Even then, I don't feel the beauty of diamonds ever comes through well in pictures, and the sparkle of a great cut stone really masks color to a certain extent.

I almost think since she has seen the colors in Tiffany already, I would just ask her hypothetically, would you rather have a 1.3 ct H or a 1.6 ct I color? That gets to the bottom line, does she value color or size more? Then you'll still have the major surprise of the H being 1.7 and the I color would be 2 cts! She'll be thrilled with either if she thinks you are looking at a lower size range!

Ya know... This is a much better idea -- WITH A SWEET SURPRISE in giving her a larger diamond in the end, regardless of which color she chooses!

Bayside, scrap the original idea and go with this. Less work and still a great outcome for both of you.

But I still think DK would be a really nice way to give her the high quality setting she wants without the price tag, per se. [emoji1360]

Thank you diamondseeker! I received the following comments from the vendor (eye clean, no black inclusions, mid-range I, no brown tint) so based on where the H that I currently have falls on the spectrum there may not be a tremendous difference between the two. I don't know that I've ever been as hopeful to have to spend more money before
