I have posted a couple of threads about Fiesta(ware) in the past, and we seem to have some fans on PS, so I thought I'd pass along an email with the blow out sale that the factory is having.

In case you didn't know, the factory is the place to get the hard to find pieces like tiny teapots, three sizes of vases, the giant teacups (alice in wonderland size-but saucers are separate), the square plates, carafes, and other cool stuff you can't find in most stores. I give the tiny teapot as gifts and people love that you can put some water in the teapot, microwave for a few minutes, and you have a personal-size pot of tea without any fuss or muss. I've given it a couple of times, and the recipients still talk about it. Sadly, I don't think the tiny teapot is on sale, but the big one will get you a free trivet.

If you're a collector, Marigold is the new color and will be discontinued soon!

I've ordered a medium vase for myself, and I'll be giving the free bud vase as a gift. :naughty: Also, I ordered the covered casserole and I'm keeping the free trivet. I think the best deal is that you can get service for 4 for $99 and free shipping

So, here' s the rundown that they sent me.

Oh, how I wish Lilac would make a comeback!

Ooooo! We got FiestaWare as our new dishes on our wedding registry! I'm going to have to go SHOPPING tonight! :appl:  Thanks for the heads up, iLander!!!

love it!

Me too! It seems cruel that they make such nice colors and then take them away. :(sad I don't own any Lilac, and I have a weird aversion to used dishes (I know they're completely clean, but still), so I won't buy vintage.

Oh, good a new member of the crazy club! :wavey: What colors did you get? They have some cool stuff at the factory, things that I don't see in the stores (I know I said that, it bears repeating :D ). Did you get a big teapot? Those are so pretty in red! It's the red that got me going, and the lemongrass that really made a mess of me! I have about 7 colors that I mix and match. :appl:

We were boring and practical to start: we got the 4-piece set in white, plus black luncheon plates. We also go some platters and accent pieces in shamrock. These will eventually be the dishes for "formal" dinners...we just don't have space to keep two sets of plates right now. When we move to our new house (whenever that may be) I'm planning on getting the cobalt, plum, turquoise, and peacock, and putting those babies on display!

My absolute favorite piece right now is our shamrock carafe!

I don't but I'm about to press the button to get 2 each of the 4 piece sets for scarlet, marigold, shamrock and turquoise!

Kohl's is having a similar deal-same sale pricing and 20% off the purchase so you don't have to deal with buying in quantity. The site linked offers freebies though and in my case I only save $4 by going to Kohl's but miss out on 8 free bowls.

But if you weren't going for quantity it would be worth it to look there.

Vintage red and green are my favorite colors. All my le creuset is fennel and the shamrock will go nicely. My accents are red and marigold. I threw in the turquoise because three colors that bright looked off to me and four seems more balanced. Unlike me. LOL.

Hubby and I threw out our crappy old dishes and visited the factory store in WV and bought 8 settings of the square dishes/bowls/mugs. I bought scarlet, marigold, peacock and shamrock. Love them!!! I bought the salt & pepper shaker set in scarlet, and they threw in 8 Fiesta drinking glasses since we bought so much all at once. It's like a party in my dishwasher every time we eat.

I'm glad you posted this ILander. Someone once told me that once I started buying it, I would have to have more! The factory store has a back room with "off shelf" merchandise - stuff that didn't make it through quality control. I didn't look through it very much because I had my mind set on my place settings, but I definitely will look next time. That stuff was cheap!

wow, deegee! We're practically twinsies! I was between peacock and turquoise. DO you love the combination with peacock? Cause I prefer that color, I just couldn't tell online if those four went together well.

I have Corelle (thin, white, hard to break)!and it stains. It's kind of porous and hard to clean.

Indidnt notice this AS MUCH when I had a dishwasher six months ago but Noe I hate to use it.

I've never had modern Fiesta wear.

Can anyone please describe the surface?

I'd like something hard and easy to clean.

Danny, we have the white dishes and while we do have a dishwasher, I've never noticed an issue with staining or them being difficult to keep clean. Perhaps a stubborn stuck-on morsel every so often, but that's because our dishwasher is sub-par, not the dishes!

They are glazed ceramic and quite hefty. I love them and doubt I will ever "go back" to anything else. I'm a convert! (Plus, they're PRETTY!)

mrs. taylor-the peacock has become my favorite color of the 4 colors I have. It's very bright though. I'd take a picture of the 4 together for you, but I have no idea where the camera is and my iphone always puts a funky yellow tint to the pictures at night and you can't really get an idea of the true colors. The only 2 colors I had in mind when we went to the store were scarlet and marigold. Hubby immediately picked out the peacock, and shamrock was a last minute decision as we were heading out the door. I also bought 8 pasta bowls. I love those.

Danny-Fiesta is very sturdy. The info on the boxes indicated a 5 year no chipping warranty. They bang around in the dishwasher and don't show a single scratch or chip so far. As a matter of fact, we are so close to the factory store that many local restaurants use Fiestaware. I decided that if it lasts for a busy restaurant and still looks great, surely it would hold up for me. It's dishwasher safe, freezer safe, ovenproof, microwave safe, lead proof, and made in the state where I live-West Virginia.

I don't mind a yellow tint! I'd love to see!

Sorry for the yellow tint. I even turned on extra lights trying to get rid of it!

Great thread! I used to love going to the factory (when I lived in WV) and finding such treasures in the "seconds" room. I cherish my lilac sugar bowl (it wasn't in the seconds room, though). I have so much stuff, I don't even know what I have. I just moved from Cali to Chicago and sadly I downsized before the move. The only place settings I brought were the scarlet and white - left all the other multicolored plates. The maintenance man of my former building must now have quite the collection. I kept all the cool stuff that wasn't on display or used. Now, they are in a box in my basement. This thread has inspired me to go digging and get this stuff back into my kitchen or china cabinet.

so bright and cheery! Thank you!

I wish i could afford to buy it right now! my grandmother was a huge fan of collecting all the colors of Fiesta ware when it first came out on the market in the 1930s.She used it every day until her house was destroyed in a flood in 1976. I remember going into second hand stores as a kid and seeing literally stacks of it on shelves for a dime for a plate or a dollar for a pitcher and didn't think about collecting it!
What are the favorite colors of the collectors on the board? i think mine is the turquoise!

Danny,
Ive used the white corelle ware for the last 8 years and never had a problem with staining. interesting.

your a real sells/sales person! im sold and think that in the near future i may start collecting all the colors so i wont have to worry about breaking up a matching set if one gets broken in daily use! I like that its made in the U.S.A.! What is the best way to start collecting on a budget and what advise can the serious collectors give us beginners. i would buy the pieces to use everyday and so serious 1930s-1950s vintage collecting wont be my interest.
I JUST WENT TO THE WEBSITE! this collecting could be an addiction!

I got some! I'm now kicking myself because I went with three colors because I couldn't make a decision. So I went to Macy's and they have pretty much the same thing going on PLUS I could see them in person. They also had some exclusives-one of which was a bowl that isn't on that site that I loved. I ended up getting 6 place settings so far. I'm still on the fence about what other colors to add in and I guess this 4 for $99 deal will be gone tomorrow so I have to decide fast! I got 2 shamrock, 2 marigold and 2 scarlet, plus 4 marigold bowls and 4 scarlet bowls. They didn't have them in shamrock which made me sad and threw me off my game!

Thanks for the post iLander! Fiesta-fans have to stick together.

I bought:

10 of the Christmas luncheon plates (for Christmas morning breakfast!)
6 of the individual oval bakers to add to the two I already have (love this size!)
2 of the deep dish pie plates for my daughters since I adore mine so much
a place setting of the Marigold for one of my daughters for Christmas

Now I have to resist the temptation to go back and buy more.......

@vc10um: I want a carafe! I still don't have one, can you believe it? They are SO cool! I can't believe I forgot to get one of those! Maybe next sale.

@mrs.taylor: The sale is over Sunday, Dec 11th, so there's still some time. I love the colors you've picked! I always get frustrated by the stores and their on and off stock, you could just get shamrock bowls from the factory. Don't forget sugar, creamer, and butter! :naughty: I think the best part of fiesta is a bunch of colors in the dishwasher, it brightens up a dreary chore!

@Danny: Hi Danny! :wavey: Corelle, is melamine, right? That's not microwaveable is it? Fiesta can go right in the oven, the microwave, freezer, whatever (just not on the stove)! It does get hot though, so you have to use a potholder. I've made a casserole, stuck it in the oven, put in on the table then stuck the leftovers in the freezer. One dish! I think melamine breaks down with heat, and the surface starts to go. I found some gorgeous bowls at Urban Outfitters once, but then I found out they were melamine and I returned them. The Fiesta surface is very hard, about as hard as a ceramic tile, so dirt comes right off. They're also really break and chip-resistant, I have broken many bowls over the years, but never a Fiesta. Just get one piece to take a look at it, I suggest the gusto bowl, it's my most-used piece. Then sign up for the newsletter, they usually do the $99 sale a couple of times a year. Or maybe there's a store near you so you can check it out? Here's the retailer list; http://www.hlchina.com/fiestastorelist.htm

@deegee; Lucky! I would love to get to the factory one day! Free glasses? Awesome! Don't they have a giant tent sale once a year?

@ LAJennifer; Some day I might cave and get a vintage piece of Lilic, you guys are inspiring me!

@jewelerman; I got inspired by my aunt, who had all the 1970's pieces and still does. You can always get a $10 bud vase to remember grandma, that would be nice. :halo: I don't buy vintage either, just buy what you like. Mix and match is the most fun for me. If you want to collect, the marigold and lemongrass will both be discontinued soon, so you might start with those. Also on the website they have colors that are no longer in the stores (discontinued colors/pieces) so those will be collectible too. If you want to heavy-duty invest, then the 75th anniversary gold-stamped tureen in marigold is quite the piece. Have fun with it!

@Aoife; I love the Christmas tree pattern! It is SO sweet! What do you use the little bakers for? I always look at those and go

:wavey: My colors; Sunflower, Marigold, Tangerine, Scarlet, Peacock, Lemongrass, Cobalt, Heather. I luv to mix them all up! I love that it's relatively cheap, and very cheerful. SALE ENDS SUNDAY!

really? I spoke with a rep and she said the sales were going until Sunday, but the specials change daily. I'll have to pay attention and see what happens!

the problem with my bowls are that they're a Macy's exclusive. You can't even find them online and they weren't made in shamrock! Ah well. I still think this is a great find! I love the way these colors look together and it really matches my kitchen!

I use the little bakers for things like baked eggs, individual shepherd's pie, pot pies, etc., and for serving small amounts of sides, storing and reheating leftovers...how long a list do you want? One of my daughters bought the first ones for me because she used hers a lot, and I had the same reaction you did. Now, I am totally sold on them. Well, obviously, since I just bought 6 more of them!

One of my favorite discontinued pieces is a sapphire gravy boat. Which I never actually use, but I admire it in my china cabinet.

And every year I put a request for something in lilac on my Christmas list, but so far, no luck. I'm very jealous of LAJennifer.

good to know! I was looking at those and decided against them. It's time to reconsider!

Wow, you're quite a chef! I might have to try one of those little guys and see if I like it . . .

ack! Someone hold me back! I'm fixin' to order more!

for anyone contemplating this and putting it off...don't. I just lost 2 place settings because they are sold out. I had 4 more settings in my cart with 9 gusto bowls. I was going to pay last night but didn't get around to it. I just sat down to do it and my beloved shamrock place settings are out of stock. I'm sad. Don't drag your feet like me and get disappointed!!!
