Few questions regarding my floating cushion/(airline) halo!

Hi everyone! Thank you so much for taking the time to read this  I have attached a few pictures of my ring below! My cushion is 1.4 ct and the halo setting is meant for a 1.5 ct diamond. When my fiancé found the jeweler he liked he picked out which diamond he loved first and then which setting.. He had taken the ring back twice for them to adjust the diamond because it was slightly off center (it still is a tiny bit) but I know the "airline" had bothered him as well before proposing. I love my ring and love that he picked it out completely but I agree with him about the airline too. They look so beautiful with many engagement rings but on me I would prefer it without an airline. My ring still has the "rider" inside to make sure it fit ok before getting sized so we made the trip to the jeweler (3 hours away) for sizing. While we were there we mentioned the airline and he said it was so small he couldn't really notice but that he could custom order a new halo setting that would fit the dimensions of my diamond perfectly and also have it made to be my ring size. He said this would cost "$200" to fix. It has been about three weeks and while we have been waiting for the call that it's ready I have been looking on forums a lot and researching diamonds. My good friend also told me today that she had an airline and her (now husband) increased the diamond size since it was such a small difference. I can't believe it but neither me or my fiancé even thought about that. The jeweler did not mention it either though. My question is: do you think that if we went up to 1.5 ct that would fix the airline issue completely? Or maybe not because all cushions are not cut the same...our thinking is that if the price difference is rather minimal in a new setting or .1 bigger diamond then which is the smarter choice? The last part of my question (so sorry that is a jumbled mess) is that my diamond is 6.29x6.07x4.17 and I know that cushions face up smaller but many conversion charts average a 6mm cushion cut to be about a ct. One analysis on a website said that my cushion "barely looks it's weight" and "looks like a well cut 1.13ct cushion". What are your thoughts? Maybe that is making the airline more prominent to me? Thank you for any advice, comments you could give me. I greatly appreciate it!!

I don't think that trading up the diamond will cost you only $200, so I think the most economical choice will be to pay the $200 for the custom setting.
I don't know much about cushions, so I'll let the experts chime in on that.

Maybe now's the time to consider if you are open to upgrading in the long run, and if that would include trading in the current diamond to do so. If that is the case, I would recommend leaving the setting as is, or paying the $200 for the cinderella glass slipper for the cinderella diamond (perfect fit!).

Or if you have the funds available to go all out, then I would recommend upgrading the stone and setting in one shot!
