The stone technically falls outside the ideal 34-35 crown, but I've read that a 35.5 crown with a 40.6 pavilion can create a fiery balanced stone (while sacrificing some brightness).

Seeking Opinions:

  1. Fiery Stones: What are your thoughts on stones that skew fiery?
  2. Eye Clean: Do you think this particular diamond would be eye clean?
  3. Other factors?
My budget is $30k for context.

The cut precision looks quite good, though not super ideal cut level. My guess is it's eye-clean. I personally prefer a slightly more balanced stone, but the differences would not be super noticeable unless you were looking for them.

Kim, thank you for your insight!

In your opinion, would it be worth going down to a lower color grade to bridge the gap to a super ideal?

From what I could tell, this would equate to around a H-G all else equal. Thanks again for your help!

Personally yes, because to me cut is #1 and G/H is white to my eyes

Or this if you aren't OK with SI1

These both look like good options, thank you!

Out of curiosity, does Whiteflash buy diamonds and recut them?

It looks like this second one is partially tied to an older GIA report (same GIA number but 2021 certificate date on StoneAlgo vs. 2023 certificate date on Whiteflash / GIA) with slightly different proportions but the same certificate number.

I don't think WF does recuts, but I honestly can't be sure. I'm trying to tag WF's owner here but @ sign isn't working for me

Looks like stonealgo had the wrong main pics of the stone, but the link to WF shows the same stone

Hi @lovedogs and @MissGotRocks - It looks like the OP may have gone with the 2.4 G si1 diamond as it is now sold.
I confirmed with WF today and the H VS1 2.28 listed above has been recut, it was a 2.38. I am considering this diamond. Can you please check the proportions of this diamond? Do you see any other diamonds that would be a better pick? I would love to have a 2.5ct but the few that they have are AGS I's which I feel would have too much tint for me. I was hoping to keep my stone budget under $30k.

How important is Star% ?

Thank you for your help.

I don’t see a 2.28 H VS1 listed in Whiteflash. Can you provide a link to it? If you have it in reserve, the link doesn’t show up in their listing.
I do see this 2.52 H VS2. Did you look at this diamond? Wire price would only be 3k more than you were hoping to spend.

Ditto @MissGotRocks ...Beautiful images (Idealscope/Aset/H&A), beautiful stone!

Okay, so now you have me thinking about this 2.52. Oh boy! Do I need to be concerned about the inclusions on the edge?

I also see this 2.27 G. (big price jump from the H) There is just something about the sparkle video view. It looks amazing! I see it has a much lower depth and the Lower Girdle % is 80. Is that the difference?

I also see this 2.25 I HCA 1.4, StoneAglo 9.

Do you see a huge difference in the cuts of these diamonds?

I would ask Whiteflash to do a side by side video of all three diamonds. That way you can see their sparkle and color for yourself. Also ask them about the inclusions on the 2.52. I did think though that you were a bit apprehensive about an I color?
