Feedback On These Two Cushion Diamonds

This is my first official post and I'm trying to make a decision on one of these lovely cushion diamonds for my future fiancee. Initially I've always been drawn to old mine cushions and actually started wanting a Good Old Gold AVC but months have gone by and they have yet to restock their AVC diamonds. Of the diamonds listed below I'm really leaning towards the first ERD A Cut Beyond cushion but was worried about the slightly large cutlet specification. Should I be worried? I also like the other second diamond which is a completely different cut but would love some feedback of both. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

ERD X Factor Cushion (this cut has really been growing on me)

Looks like I've had several views but no one has chimed in with a response just yet. Any thoughts on the first diamond in terms of light performance judging from the ASET image or other specs? Thanks in advance.

The second one has been sold and so if you are a fatalist, all signs seem to point to the first cushion. The ASET of that one is on par with those of well-cut "generic" cushions.

Thanks much for the response mogster I really appreciate it and I didn't realize the second diamond was already sold. Folks seem to be moving fast these days with the holidays just around the corner. One last question though, I know I'm a novice and all but doesn't ERD's A Cut Beyond diamond qualify as a "antique" cushion versus a plain old "generic" cushion?

It is an antique-style cushion, just not branded like the AVCs and doesn't come with the AVC premium. Have you seen a diamond with a culet in person? It comes down to personal preference, but I've found that culets are hardly as pronounced as they are in (magnified) pictures.

The ERD cushion's culet is fine. It's not a huge window in the bottom of the stone... you'll barely notice it at all.

This is really up to you. The first diamond is an antique cut - big facets. The second diamond is a modern cut. Both are nice diamonds!

I can't say that I've actually seen a diamond with a culet in person. After seeing your response and doing some further research I don't think it's anything I should be worried about though. Thanks again for the feedback.

The big facets in the first diamond are exactly why I love the first diamond. Thanks for the feedback.

Personal preference, I MUCH prefer the "antique" style cushions, but that is probably why I bought an AVC.

Mine has a noticable culet in the GOG photo, but I don't notice it at all in person. Here is the GOG link to my diamond:

I don't think a larger culet in that cut of a diamond is a big deal. It probably adds to the charm.

Good luck. I wouldn't worry about the culet if you love the cut.

i personally love open culets on both modern and antique cuts. they add a bit more charm imho. i know open culets are popular with all the ladies on her too so open or closed you should be safe.

I much prefer the look of antique-style cushions -- the ERD one you've linked to is beautiful. The ASET is good for an antique style stone, a mix of direct and indirect light source reflection. I would be very happy with that stone. :))

I prefer the antique-style as well, but I'm biased as I have one! Mine also has a slightly large culet which is not nearly as obvious as it would seem. I really need to get closer to it to see it, it isn't noticeable at a casual glance. I really like the first stone, but what does your fiance prefer?

I haven't technically asked her, but I'm confident she wouldn't mind much either way. Plus my future fiance isn't really a diamond expert either. I feel good about this diamond though and its a good sign that my sister who got married 2 years back (and is more of a diamond connoisseur) mouth nearly hit the floor when I showed her the chunky faceted cushion I planned on buying for my future fiance :D .
