I found these two 0.9 ct round stones and was wondering if I could get some feedback from all just to make sure my head is in the right area.

The VS1 got a 0.7 on HCA and the VVS2 got a 1.3.

Thoughts? I don''t want to go below an I as far as color and cut and clarity are the most important. Based on my budget, that leaves me around a 0.9 ct stone so these seem to be what I should be looking at.

Lower the clarity grade to an eye-clean SI1?
of the 2, I prefer the VVS stone but both IS looks good.

Well I would rather see an H VS2, but there is super slim pickins right now in that size range. So I like the I VS1 better. Smaller table, slightly better IS.

What is this "IS" you speak of? :P

Why is there slim pickens in that size range? I noticed that. Just with WF? They only currently have 9 stones that are 0.9+ ct, I+ color, SI1+ clarity, and less than $5k. The VS1 and the VVS2 were the only ones below $4,900.

things in the .8-<1.0 range get snapped up really fast.

IS==Ideal Scope image.

Hi Mike

I prefer the I VVS, as for IS/ Idealscope, read more here.

Thanks guys.

I just talked with WF about the VVS2 and the other stones in my price range (< $5k for the stone) with the criteria I want (posted above). You have the two stones I posted above in the $4,200 range and then 7 other similar stones which are all $4,900+. All of them are within what I''ve created as my "budget", but the other stones don''t seem to be better or noticeably better than the VVS2 at $4,200. WF said they don''t expect another shipment in for at least 4 weeks. I don''t have a time line for when I need the ring as it''s most important to me to get the best I can, but if I''m going to be presented with similar or even worse options when they get new inventory, I''d like to make a move now.

Can I feel confident that I''m getting one of the best stones at that price point that I can?

What about this????? It seems better than the WF VVS2.

The diamond looks very promising, ask for an Idealscope image if interested, it might possibly favour white light due to the very slightly shallower pavilion angle but this is just speculation, ask one of the JA gemologists to discuss the performance and personality of the diamond with you. Also in case this might be a future consideration, both companies ( WF and JA) offer upgrade policies but the terms and conditions of each vary so if upgrading the diamond might be an option later, check both policies carefully and factor this into your decision if needed.

depends on what you want and what vendor policies you think you will need in the future.

The JA stone looks good. Ask for an idealscope image from JA if you are interested.

Ugh. This is getting difficult. I''m now learning of virtual stones. It will take JA up to 3 days to get me an IS, but WF will only hold the VVS2 for 24 hours. :\ Hopefully the WF rep I''m working with can help me work things out.

Thanks again guys.
