Please give me your feedback on cut quality and overall deal (am I paying too much?). I appreciate your feedback. FYI -- this is for an engagement ring.

Price $11,500 (local jeweler)
GIA certified
1.50
H
VS2
Polish - Excellent
Symmetry - Excellent
No Florescense
Total Depth 60.4%
Table 59.9%
Crown Angle 33.3
Pavilion Angle 40.9
No cutlet
Girdle - Med to Sl. Thick

On the HCA the results are:
Light Return - Excellent
Fire - Excellent
Scint. - Very Good
Spread - Very Good
Overall Score 1.6

Also, on the GIA cert. it indicates that 'clouds are not shown'. Should I be concerned with this?

This stone scores pretty good numbers on the DiamCalc as well. It's probably a good looking stone. On the AGA Cut Class Scale it ranks a "2A" (fine make), which I would categorize as "very good", on a scale of excellent, very good, good, fair and poor.

The price is a very fair "bricks & mortar" jewelry store price. You might be able to find a stone like this for less on the internet, but there are certain advantages to working with a local jeweler which may be more important to you.

If you haven't tried haggling yet, don't rule it out. Perhaps there's some room for movement on price. You'll never know until you give it a shot. You can find internet comparables by using the PriceScope search engine above. Be sure and compare apples to apples by restricting your search to GIA and AGS certified stones.

"Clouds not shown" on a VS stone are nothing to worry about.

A POSSIBLE DiamCalc Light Return Analysis follows, along with a simulated IdealScope image.

Light Return Mono…….....Very Good 0.98
Light Return Stereo……….Very Good 1.00
(Non) Leakage Mono……...Very Good to Good 0.93
(Non) Leakage Stereo…….Very Good to Good 0.95
Contrast………….......…....Very Good to Good 0.93
(Non) Fisheye Effect……..Very Good 1.00

-----------
IdealScope- In general, the darker pink areas indicate areas of greater light return, with the lighter pink areas indicating areas of lesser light return. The black areas indicate areas of greater contrast, with the gray areas indicating areas of lesser contrast. The white areas indicate areas of light leakage. A good explanation of the IdealScope image along with examples can be found at https://www.pricescope.com/idealscope_indx.asp

Disclaimer- The facet arrangement and symmetry of the image will probably vary from your actual diamond, which may affect the light performance indicated, sometimes dramatically. The image shown has perfect symmetry, which is rare, and the star facet/lower girdle facet lengths may vary from your diamond. The computer simulation is reproduced best when the actual diamond is being viewed and the image "tweaked" to the appearance of the diamond, or when the Sarin data is downloaded directly into the program. However, this "blind" reproduction should be helpful in indicating the major light performance aspects.

I'm guessing that you could drop thousands by buying over the internet. Only you can decide if the B&M premium is worth it.

As for the clouds, have the jeweler show the stone to you in all kinds of light and try to find these clouds. This sort of thing is one of the main adventages of buying in a B&M store. They may well be impossible to find - and that should bring you peace of mind! Remember that there are lots of fish in the sea - diamonds are not nearly as rare as certain sellers make them out to be. Cast your net on both sides of the boat.

"Clouds not shown" simply means that they are not drawn on the cert plot. When you draw a cloud it can make a vS stone look like I3 - so they use the comment.
Forget it. It is a nice very spready stone which probably looks bigger than most 1.6 -1.7ct stones.

Just for a price comparison, I ran a quick Pscope search using 'search by cut quality' and found only one stone that was similar: a 1.50c H VS2 from WhiteFlash.Com that is Hearts & Arrows, A Cut Above superideal cut, with HCA score of 1.3 (ex ex ex ex) for around $11671 (Pricescope price). So your deal sounds very fair for an offline B&M for a good cut stone...but if you wanted an excellent cut, you could do something very similar in ctw and color/clarity for the same price online. You could also probably find similar cuts to yours for a little cheaper online as well using the regular Pricescope search tool and putting in some strict parameters for search.

But if you have seen this stone and love it, the numbers look pretty good...so best of luck on your decision!

Any predications on how this would rate on the BrillianceScope?

When you say 'Forget it'... do you mean forget about the clouds or forget the whole stone?
