Hi all,

I know very little about diamonds or jewelry in general, but I do know how to do some basic research and due diligence. After a ton of reading, I was looking for a diamond in the $12k range, about 1.5 carats, d-g rated, and eye clean. I settled upon the one linked below. It was the best in my opinion for the price range currently, but I was hoping folks much smarter than me could provide their perspective since I don’t have any friends to lean on. The JA representative pulled up the ASET images for this and a similar hearts and arrows diamond of similar price, and the sparkle of this one seemed much nicer. They deemed it a good buy, but appreciate independent feedback as well if possible. Thanks!

We're you able to get a copy of the GIA dossier?

Yes. The dimensions were in the ranges I was looking at, but I'm sure there are manycert.jpeg more factors that make a good diamond.

I purchased this diamond about three months ago! I had it for about 2-3 weeks. It was a nice looking diamond but I decided to return it and went with a different company. I have some pics if you want to see.

Teamwork!

Small world, haha. Sure, pics would be great. Why did you return it? Hopefully not for any issues with the diamond itself.

No issues. The diamond was nice and it sparkled plenty but it was not a super-ideal (some spots never lit up.) The IS was good. Plus, JA strict upgrade policy helped me decided to go with a different vendor. (I like upgrades but don't necessarily want to spend 2x as much, which is a JA requirement.) Overall, it is a nice stone.

Might I ask what you paid for it back then? I purchased for $12k, so while not super ideal I think it may still be a great value at that pricepoint?

This diamond was on my short list. My record showed (Yes, I use an excel to record my short list) that at the end of April the price was 12k. I was choosing between this one (1.61ct-G-VS1) and the one I purchased (1.5ct-F-VS1). This one was bigger and a better deal, but my husband insisted the better color one, which actually was more expensive. I finally agreed with him. IMO this one is very very good. I hope you will resolve the setting issue soon.

Post the aset image, please.
