Feasibility of recutting my diamond?

I am wondering about the feasibility of recutting just the ends of my oval to add brilliance. Right now the "wide flat facets" leak light and don''t have the billiance of the rest of the stone. I found an example of what I''m talking about, but of course the file is too big and it''s a GIF and not a JPEG, and I don''t know how to convert it. Anyway, here''s the link:

Look at the first oval posted by Valeria in the 2/12/06 2:09:46 posting. The top and bottom of the center stone illustrates what I''m so eloquently NOT describing very well!

So, is this even possible? Would I lose any length in the recutting? Is the whole process just more trouble than it''s worth? (I have FOUR people now looking for a new oval for me, but no luck so far.) I love the stone otherwise, but the ends are making me CRAZY.

Any info would be much appreciated!

This is a WAY more complicated question than I think you''re imagining. Almost anything is possible but whether you would find it economically reasonable and whether it would result in what you want is a whole different set of questions. I do recut consultations, and I know some cutters who do amazing work, but what you are asking is definitely a dive into the deep end of the pool.
