Favourite Movies of All Time...?

Not to steal any thunder, but in these days of Netflix lists, why don''t we share our recommendations for the best movies we''ve EVER seen, not just recently seen? My flix list needs beefing up.

Mine:

1) Airplane! (never stops being funny) probably tied with ''Top Secret'' Ah... the Zucker brothers! so much comedy perfection.
2) Das Boot (never stops being earth shattering)
3) Master and Commander, the Far Side of the Universe (never stops being perfect)

I am sure there are so many others...I love good stupid movies for a laugh as well..Animal House, National Lampoon Vacation movies, Will Ferrell movies...

I'm sure I'll be adding to this often as I think of others, but growing up, I used to watch "Grease 2"...yes there was a part deux! Michelle Pfeiffer was actually in it. I've also seen "Girls Just Want to Have Fun" (with Jonathan Silverman, Helen Hunt, and Sarah Jessica Parker), and I think my sister and I are the only two who have heard of this movie. I've also seen Brat Pack movies more times than I can count..."Breakfast Club," "Sixteen Candles," etc. I've seen "When a Man Loves a Woman" with Andy Garcia and Meg Ryan often. Good movie, but a little depressing, as it's about an alcoholic who pulls her life together. I also used to love "Sleeping with the Enemy" and "Point of No Return".

It's weird, I don't tend to read a book more than once but I could watch the same movie over and over again if I like it.

My favourite of all time has got to be ''The Princess Bride''. The scene where the Bishop says ''mawiage'' instead of ''marriage'' a la Elmer Fudd is abosutely hilarious. And it also has the best sword fight scene in movie history!! The ultimate fairytale and you don''t have to be a kid to enjoy it. In fact, it''s better watching it as an adult because there''s a lot of humour in it that kids just won''t understand.

I also love the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. We recently got a 60 inch plasma which was delivered in the morning - I watched the entire trilogy in one day! I know that''s wacko but I love the trilogy.

And lastly, The Mummy - mainly because of Brendan Fraser - OMG - he is delicious!!!!

I also liked the first Lethal Weapon and really love most of the early Disney and some of the more current Pixar stuff too.

I also loved loved loved Ghost with Demi Moore and Private Benjamin is one of my all time favorite comedies...

I would really have to give this some thought, but off the top of my head, Gone with the Wind and the Lord of the Rings movies would be in my top picks. My hubby loves It''s a Wonderful Life, Casa Blanca, Young Frankenstein, etc., and I like them a lot, too.

Most movies I go to are G rated because I mainly go with my kids!

Great movie; the funniest thing for me is that I think I was about 10 when this movie came out and I cried because I did not want to see it; I wanted to see Rocky V instead. Ha!

What about To Catch a Thief and Mame, the one with Rosalind Russell? Love that, and I love Gyspy with her, and West Side Story and Forrest Gump...LOVE that one so much, so clever and well done...

Same Time Next Year was one I loved and hadn't thought of.

Lots of the "kiddie" movies are better as an adult. Little jokes that are meaningless to kids are a kewl hook for parents that HAVE to take the kiddies.

Lord of the Rings trilogy. That was our family "Christmas Movie" event for several years. Go watch the new in the theaters. Get last year's as a family Christmas gift.

Forrest Gump. They run it constantly on TV. I've seen it at least a hundred times. Doesn't matter where I come in, I can sit down and watch a bit or the rest. If I have to move onto something else, it's OK. I know how it goes.

Remember the Titans. Son played High School football. His Senior year, their team won the first ever State Championship in school history. Undefeated. The perfect 13-0 Season. Remember the Titans was the football movie of the Season. Every time we see it, we think of those wonderful 4 months.
