Canadian Bacon
Chocolat
The Count of Monte Cristo
Dances With Wolves
The Da Vinci Code
Deep Impact
The End of the Affair

When Harry Met Sally

For me, movies shouldn''t be too emotionally involved. Sure, I''ll cry when watching Philadelphia or The Shawshank Redemption, but I can''t bear movies that are too intense or too horrifying. Signs is about as scary as I can take. I do like my cheesy romantic comedies, but I also like more serious movies that examine life for what it is (as long as the thesis isn''t that life sucks).

ETA: And after reading the other posts ... I'd have to add

SDL, how about starting here? I have a few friends who are writers who say these ''Writer''s Market'' books are the best!

http://www.amazon.com/2006-Childrens-Writers-Illustrators-Market/dp/1582974020

In the meantime, I''m going to start a new thread for ''recommended kid''s books''. I have a passion for kid''s books (as does my b/f''s dad, who has a collection of 1000''s), and used to sell them for a living.

My favorite movie of all times is:

The Princess Bride--it has been ever since I was a little girl. I adore it.

My close runner ups are:

Shawshank Redemption
Lady Hawk
Lady and the Tramp
Top Gun
Crash

And my favorite movies to watch OVER and OVER despite the fact that I have them memorized are:

Love Actually
Dodgeball
Center Stage
School of Rock
Wedding Crashers
Drop Dead Gorgeous
A league of their Own
Little Mermaid
Sleeping Beauty (heck any old-school disney)

I know those aren''t nessicarily great pieces of film (well except the disney movies, they are great), but they are endeared to me. My group of girlfriends and I think they are hilarious/amazing, and we watch them all the time.

Oh you guys have me reminiscing now...I loved Big, The Princess Bride, ThSpe Dark Crystal, Circle of Friends, Splash, The Neverending Story, etc. Also I love the movie Ronin for some reason, something about the fast cars and Robert DeNiro is so sexy in that movie, and my all time favorite movie when I was a kid was Savannah Smiles. Doubt if anyone''s even heard of that last one, but I remember borrowing it from the library every time my mother took me there, lol! Oh, and About Last Night with Rob Lowe and Demi Moore circa 1980 something was the best when I was like, 14! LOL!

I was just reminded of what to me was the scariest, most chilling movie of all time: "The Hand That Rocks the Cradle".

It still gets to me!
