What is your favourite type of eternity ring? I like the bezel or channel set ones because I would be worried about the prongs catching on something. If people could say why they chose the type of rings they did that would be great. Pics of your favs/rings are welcome by the way!

I love the look of shared prong eternity bands (that is what I got), but I also was seriously considering a bezel, but my boyfriend didn't like it for some unknown reason. I have not worn the ring yet, but the prongs seem not very "catchy" at all. Pictures here:

Shared Prong Eternity Band

My wedding band is a channel set w/ milgrain and engraving. I''m looking at the petite shared prong by Memoire as an additional band. I think its small enough not to distract from my w-band while adding some additional bling. I have a sapphire/diamond band that has marquis bezel-set sapphires alternating with round prong-set diamonds.

So I''m going to have three different types. Guess that means I love them all!

My favorite is obviously a channel set... but I do love the look of a shared prong... I just didn''t see it as practical... I was afraid it would get caught on everything... and DH said it looked like snow tires! LOL!

oddon, I am like you and when it comes to stack rings am afraid of shared prong (though I love the look). I only like channel set *square* stones. For rounds I love milgrained bezels. But in reality I like a sizing bar

ETA: my setback for shared prong is that they will "eat up" the ring they are stacked against. Only a few companies don't have this problem.

I''m with Lucky Texan. While my favorite style is definitely a shared prong eternity band, when the time came to actually purchase one, I choose a platinum channel set because I really believe it''s safer. There''s no chance of the prongs picking and pulling on things and the diamonds are dead set in the platinum mounting.

I love shared prong eternity bands so much that I chose one for my wedding ring and my engagement ring. They''re gorgeous together and they wear beautifully.

The prongs don''t snag on anything, my guess is that any high-quality band won''t have problems with snagging, yikes.

I prefer as little metal showing as possible, which is why I love the shared prongs. I regularly get compliments on my rings, so it''s a lot of fun to wear them, too!

I''m with Tacori--I only like channel-set with square stones, and even then I''m not a huge fan. They look dated to me for some reason.

I agree with Tacori and feel it would be so hard to keep channel set rounds clean with those gaps. Have you considered bead set? I love my bead set eternity, nothing to catch on, and it is pretty smooth all around since the engraving is so small.

Another fan of shared prong. I do like bead set for narrow bands, but I really love the look of shared prong eternity bands. But I love sizing bars, too.

In all honesty, I could be very happy with a shared prong eternity for an e-ring. What a stunning look!

I also love the prong set, but when the time comes to get my new wedding band, I will choose a channel set princess, because of all the reason everyone stated above, I think I will get milgrain with engraving if I can find it within my price range

I LOVE my four prong eternity ring! I bought a shared prong, and loved the look, but I was afraid of chipping a stone. They just seemed to be so exposed on the sides. I also have a channel set eternity with round diamonds but it hasn''t held up as well as I though it would. There are little nicks all around it. I brought it to a local jeweler, where I had originally bought it, and they said there wasn''t anything I could do about it.

I prefer the look of prong set personally. And when done well, I don''t think channel set is particularly more safe. Channel set rings can certainly lose stones too!

HI:

If I say I like and have had many, would that mean I am a serial upgrader????

I love the U type eternity ring I have that holds square emerald cuts (prong I guess), but have had a channel set, shared prong, and a bead set. All have their merits and individual style.

cheers--Sharon

My shared prong has held up for a couple of years just fine. I''m careful to place it next to my smooth band before ering, so little chance of chipping. It''s never snagged anything. I hardly ever take it off.

Basket set shared prond like the Tiffany shared prong. Or the teeny tiny metro with 4 prongs for stacking! Or bezel set bands for fun and interest. Or pave bands. Or bands with stones burnished into them . . . On the list goes. I loooove bands. I only have two eternity bands and like Tacori, I prefer a sizing bar. I don''t think there is a multi-purpose favorite band for me anyway.

My preferences vary by stone shape

For baguettes, asschers and princesses, I prefer channel set with very VERY thin thin thin edges. Haven, for some reason a lot of channel set bands look dated to me, too--but the ones with the very thin edges look great w/ square/rectangular stones, IMO.

Shared-prong comes in close second for asschers, top-view.

For rounds, I prefer bezeled, fishtail pave or bead-set. For some reason, I just don't like the profile view of shared- or four-prong settings. Even though the top-view looks great, I don't like the jutty uneven look of the profile, and I really love a beautiful profile.

ETA: I didn't answer the rest of your question! I chose an eternity band of bezeled rounds for my wedding band. I was always between bead-set (like my e-ring is) and bezeled, and I chose bezeled because of (A)the greater security of that style, and (B)the smoothness (very comfortable--I have princess-and-the-pea fingers!), and (C)the playful/whimsical look.

I spent about a year of our engagement trying to convince myself to love the look of a plain band with my ring, because that was what I wanted as a WB, but I just couldn't. Since I'm not keen on channel-set bands, the next best thing was bezeled. Good thing it also looks great with my e-ring, IMHO

Most the time they *are* safer when stacking (no chance of diamonds eating into prongs or your e-ring).

channel set N/S baguettes

I LOVE bezel bands (like the Tiffany Swing) and u-prongs. I love being able to see lots of diamond.

Okay since you asked, I love my 4 prong eternity bands!

Shared prong is definitely my favorite.

I like channel set. I have a channel set eternity with square cut sapphires and baguette cut diamonds and would love a Tiffany jazz to stack with it - there''s an incentive to have another baby!

I love all the eternity bands on the Fay Cullen website. I mostly like the bezel set or channel setting ones, the four prong is not my style.

For rounds, I love shared prong and for squarish stones, I like channel set.

I really like shared prong.

Babymonster, I love your eternity band. It''s gorgeous.

I have both my bands as shared prong eternity, and have not had any problems with them really catching on anything. I guess it depends on how rough you are with your hands! I usually take them off to work out, clean, etc. so it is not really an issue.
