What are your favorite tv shows and why?

Modern Family- funniest show on tv
Parenthood- love the story lines and characters. Dramatic while still being real.

All of the gold shows- Gold Rush, Baring Sea Gold, etc.
All of the teen mom shows- 16 & Pregnant, Teen Mom, Teen Mom 2, etc.
The shows about kids with actual talent- Dance Moms, Cheer Perfection, etc.

Favorite show of all time? Friends. There will never be a show that can replace it.

We don't watch a lot of TV. We have a couple shows we love and then mostly we just watch movies. I don't like sitcoms or reality TV.

A couple of the ones I watch include:

Breaking Bad
Game of Thrones
Lost - we are currently rewatching this the second time through!
Firefly - cancelled years ago but I rewatch it all the time. I've probably seen every episode at least 7 times! We own the DVDs

ETA - I'm sure there are more, but will remember them later on and then post...I also liked Jericho, which was cancelled.

There are a couple series I watched all the way through, like Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Allias, and Dollhouse, but I'm not sure if they were my fav.

Skippy, what are your favorites? I know one of them! hehehe

Favorite former shows: The Cosby Show and Friends. TCS because I love the Huxtable family and Bill Cosby is a great comedian. Friends because...well, just because. I got tired of Monica's whiny behavior in the last few seasons but other than that, it's just so funny.

Favorite current shows: Parenthood. I love the family dynamics and I LOVE Craig T. Nelson. I also watch pretty much anything on HGTV but my favorite is probably House Hunters and House Hunters International. There are other shows we watch on ONDemand (such as Grey's, Private Practice, Revenge, Scandal, The Rachel Maddow Show, and Downton Abby [when it starts again]) that we really like also.

We've never seen Modern Family but we might start from the beginning and check it out.

Yeah, we watch a lot of TV, now that I see the list typed out.

MC, other than Seinfeld (which ended YEARS ago), my husband doesn't like sitcoms either. He does watch Two and a Half Men but I think that might be it for sitcoms. We tend to watch a lot of dramas (TV and movies).

HGTV gives me a break from all the drama and I can easily listen while cleaning, folding laundry, and doing other stuff around the house.

haha, I know you do

The one MC is referring to is Breaking Bad, seriously one of the best Shows EVER!!! :cheeky: It isn't a show I normally would watch but the writing is AMAZING. I never knew what was going to happen in the next episode.

I really liked the X Files, I love science fiction alien stuff.

Everybody love Raymond; just cute and funny!

Reba, also silly and cute

How I Met your Mother. I no longer watch but the first few seasons I love. Who doesn't love Neil Patrick Harris ?!

Cosby Show. funny, great family.

Seinfeld was funny when it was out. Back then, I did watch that and Friends...just interests change over time.

We do occasionally watch Househunters or a similar show about finding a house - it might be called something else. My husband and I actually yell at the TV though so we mostly watch it to make fun of the people. I know that is so bad, but there was one episode where the guy was OBSESSED with having a house that had all new toilets, so each house he'd check the toilets to see if they were new or needed to be replaced and then talk all about it. Their budget was around $1 million so that made it all the more neurotic that his focus was on the toilet. hahaha

.

Breaking Bad is awesome, but yeah, the story is a bit much for some. I told a friend about it and she looked horrified!

We loved watching the first season of Homeland but then we got rid of Showtime. That was a pretty intense show.

I've heard great things about Breaking Bad but I haven't seen an episode.

My dh and I love Homeland, Dexter, Fringe, Burn Notice, Covert Affairs. I also like House Hunters and all those house searching shows.
We also love Modern Family.
Skippy, Fringe is a lot like X Files but even better I think...check it out if you haven't seen it.

Yes, Homeland is really intense. I forgot about that one. I watched season one on my Kindlefire and probably get the next season that way too.

Breaking Bad is great! I forget which season it was, that was particularily "dark," and that one was almost too much for me...but we have watched all the episodes two times or more through. Either on AMC or on iTunes.

Parenthood. It's my all time fave because the writing is brilliant, the actors are amazing and the topics are spot on and very relevant.

The New Normal may not be something you would like Skippy, but the grandmother reminds me of Nanny....Saying whatever she wants.

She is even a bit of a stretch for Nanny but same mold. I love it. Gotta love a show with a Bigot, gays and a single Mom... I never ever thought this show would make it on air, but so glad it did.

Not a TV show per say, but my new morning show is Anderson Live. Love Anderson Cooper, and how he is really a funny guy. Love seeing the fun side of him, was used to him being away at war zones...

Modern Family. Period. Especially the earlier episodes. So funny!

If we are talking all-time favorites, like you-can-take-my-dvds-from-my-cold-dead-hands shows, here is the list:

Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
Battlestar Galactica (remake)
Buffy (and Angel... they go together)
Arrested Development
Alias

They pretty much all have longer story-arcs (in DS9 not until later seasons), which is what I like in shows, and really strong character development that continues throughout the show (like they don't have a big character development episode then revert the character to their previous state in subsequent episodes). And they all have awesome female characters.

Currently watching:

Major Crimes (LOVE this and The Closer... I didn't think I would like them but boy do I love smart ladies kicking ass and taking names!)
White Collar (heist show yay!)
NASHVILLE (I wasn't into it from the commercials but for some reason I watched and I am HOOKED)
Once Upon a Time (fairy tales)
Grimm ("Beefy the vampire slayer")
New Girl (so silly)
Don't Trust the B- in Apt 23 (this show is RIDICULOUS)
Community
How I Met Your Mother
Suburgatory (by far my fave new comedy from last year)
Parks and Recreation (aaaaaaaaaaamy poehler)
Archer (dirty and hilarious)
Bones
Castle
Revolution (this show makes no sense but I can't stop watching it)
Falling Skies (makes much more sense, recommend it over Revolution)
Arrow (look, I'm a sucker for ripped shirtless superhero guys)
NCIS
Doctor Who
Downton Abbey
Sherlock (BBC)
Misfits
Spy (RIDICULOSITY)

I've probably forgotten some... we watch a rather lot of tv.

House Hunters International. I don't really watch much tv these days, so that's about it, lol. Regular HH is good too, of course. If I ever turn the tv on, it's either HGTV or Food Network.

I'm going to look up some of these programs. Not surprisingly, I haven't heard of most of them.

We don't have cable so I have to rely on others to tell me what is out there.

Kaleigh I will have to check it out!

I watch a lot of TV - usually multi-tasking with computer time at night. I don't have cable though, just broadcast. I also have a very high pain threshold.

Currently I'm watching, in no particular order:

The Closer (re-runs),
Castle
Blue Bloods
Gray's Anatomy
Scandal
I like Shark Tank but it now comes on at the same time as Blue Bloods. Bye-bye, Shark Tank!

When Dancing With The Stars is on, a long-distance but same time-zone friend watch together and chat on-line, using a private social stream. (When I found myself with insomnia the night of the Royal Wedding I checked in on our social stream, and joined four or five others who were on there chatting - fun!)

I like Merlin because I've always loved anything King Arthur.

How I Met yYour Mother- funny

Modern Family- duh

I love Teen Mom and Big Brother. Sucked in every time!

Love everything on HGTV and Food Network--gives me great ideas for home remodeling and cooking!

Shows that are on the air now would be: Moonshiners, Swamp people, gold rush, the mentalist. I am not much of a tv person so I don't get to see many current show.

I love the Food Network!!!

SMASH! I forgot about that one because season 2 hasn't started yet. If you like Broadway and drama (with some comedy thrown in), check this one out. The singing is great, the characters are fun to watch, and it's just a great show overall. Debra Messing (from Will and Grace), Katherine McPhee (from American Idol), Angelica Huston, and Megan Hilty (a Broadway actress) are in it. It's also a different type of show than what I've seen before and I like that.

All-time favorite show -- Frasier. Even reruns I've seen 3 times totally crack me up. So nutty & human, without toilet humor.
Also loved Buffy -- why don't they rerun that?

Current shows: Love Ghost Hunters. Supernatural -- wonderful show, great dialogue, cuuute guys. The Good Wife. All those House Hunter shows -- laugh at the 1st-time house-buyers, 25 yrs old, who go crazy that all the appliances aren't brand-new out of the box!

I dont watch much TV, I really like about anything on the HG TV and I always watch The Big Bang and Two and Half Men, Bones and I love me some Bridezillas lol

The worst part about Sundays is going back to work on Monday. So Sunday night tv is all about PURE ESCAPISM! :cheeky:
God help hubby if he interrupts my tv time!

At 8 PM, I begin with Once Upon a Time - fairytales, followed by
9PM the Walking Dead - well... maybe closer to my Monday reality than I'm willing to admit :naughty: :errrr: :nono:

  :loopy:

three's company
original Hawaii five 0
Vegas
Combat
I love Lucy
Here's Lucy

Warehouse 13. It's on SyFy and we need to get caught up on Season 4, but DH and I love it. It's a little bit of action, a little bit of supernatural/sci-fi, a touch of history, some comic relief, and pretty decent storyline from season to season.

DH and I also love Mythbusters. Things go BOOM and all the hosts are fun to watch.

We also watch Frasier, Wings, and HIMYM on Netflix.

I laugh at those who can't get past stuff that's easily fixed. "Oh this place is nice, but the wall color is horrible."
