I have found a diamond that I like.

Carat weight: 1.09
Cut: Signature Round
Color: F
Clarity: VVS2
Depth %: 61.5%
Table %: 56%
Symmetry: Ideal
Polish: Ideal
Girdle: Thin to slightly thick, faceted
Culet: Very small
Fluorescence: None
Measurements: 6.61x6.64x4.08 mm
Accompanied by: AGSL and GCAL grading reports

Next step to find a setting.

She really likes the Tiffany setting but I am not going to pay for that average diamond.

Will you give me idea of your favorite solitaire platinum settings? I sorta like the contour settings but I think it looks a little wide. Guess I just need to see them in person. I am in Chicago if you have any suggestions. I know where Tiffany is but I would rather not visit those guys again.

Thanks in advance.

I just tried on a bunch of solitaires this weekend at Shreve, Crump & Lowe in Boston and was amazed at how the baguette setting made the diamond really sparkle.

This is what it looks like (Note: I know nothing about this vendor or website) http://www.icestore.com/rings/ring_detail.asp?ID=45

saw one on bluenile too http://www.bluenile.com/product_details.asp?oid=3173&catid=93&filter_id=1&nav1=design.asp&page=3&col=2&row=1&pos=2&set_shape=

I don't know where I'll end up finding one, but the style looks pretty.

I have a round 1.81 center stone...

My original setting was channel set baguettes, then I changed it to channel set princesses.

Now I am thinking about changing it back to the baguettes b/c I feel that the princesses take away from the beauty of the ctr stone...too much glitz.

Do you agree that the baguettes will look classier and make the ctr sparkle more?

Opinions please.....

You are speaking to someone who is setting her stone w/ side bag. JMHO - I think it is a classic setting. I think the look is classy & elegant and just a stage setter for the stone itself.

FYI - I went w/ the Vatche setting because if you look at some other ready made rings w/ bag - the Vatche's baguettes are elongated and are more traditional found that way in estate jewelry settings.

My sister has the exact ring that Leonid posted
with a 1.75 CT round, F, VS1.

It is absolutely breathtaking...it sparkles from across the room.

Do you know how secure the Vatche X-prong setting is for a 2.39 carat diamond? I have a 2.39 carat diamond terrific color and cut (ideal). I'd hate to lose it, but love this setting..:twirl: :twirl:
