Its seems so much harder for me to choose male names...

i think finding first names are easy for me personally, i just can't find good middle-names. i feel like considering the names that i like are uncommon (not strange) i would hate to go the "grace" "marie" "lousie" "elizabeth" "anne" route...not that those are bad middle names, i love them and i think they are classy and pretty and elizabeth is my middle name and my sisters have common middle names like that, but i feel they are overused and sometimes those names are used when you can't think of anything else (not always, but i kept putting those names after my first names when i couldn't think of anything else! lol!)

Well seeing how you won''t tell us the FIRST names not sure how we can help you come up with middle names.

i know....lol....just venting some frustration i''m dealing with in picking out middle names...first names i''ll never tell. muah hahaha....

we came up with colin michael for a boy name today. took us a four hour drive to find that one name. sheesh.

Yes, I think Elisabeth would be the German spelling? Reminds of Empress Elisabeth of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Apparently she was quite a beauty and the Princess Diana of her day.

Fun thread!
Girl names: Katelyn / Kaitlin, Katharine, Felicity, Abigail, sophia/sofia

I can''t think of any boy names that I''m especially excited about... Maybe I won''t have sons.

Why is a middle name such a challenge? It''s like picking a first name, without worrying about misspellings or nicknames. Nobody will ever use the middle name unless the child wants it that way. Something with sentimental value, like a family name, would be perfect here.

And in case it''s too hard, it''s also fine not to have a middle name at all.

I love baby names! When I was a kid, I used to write down lists of all the names of my imaginary children. I''ve never wanted kids, just wanted to name them. Then my husband had to rain on my parade by nixing my favorite names. We''re not having kids but somehow have managed to decide on Holly Stefana and Joseph Scott. I also like Alexis and Carly for girls, Luke for a boy.

My dad doesn''t have a middle name. He turned out fine!

It is funny though sometimes when he gets mail there is an "X" where a middle name initial should be.

J, I just don''t know how we are going to agree on a girl''s name. He hates all my ideas. We have a couple long drives coming up. Maybe I can trap him then

haha. no, we''re just dorks like that. all of our friends seem to be having girls. so, we figure we''ll be the only ones having a boy - when the time comes. because that''s our luck.
20.gif
haha. and we''ve easily decided on girl names but for the life of us didn''t like any boy names. so during our trip home from a baby shower (it''s a girl) .. haha .. we came up with colin micheal. the girl would be emily kathryn.

i think a big mental block is that the few men in my family don''t really have middle names - like my grandpa and his grandpa. plus not only are they middle nameless, but also go by initials. and i don''t want to name our kid c.t. or whatever. so we had to stretch a bit since we weren''t automatically connected with a boy name.

You all are brave sharing your favorite names. I''ll keep my lips sealed. LOL. People have been known to take other people''s favorite names. My friends are pregnant and always ask me what my favorite names are and I''m just like, ''I''llllll neeevveerrrrr tellllll'' cause I''m afraid they''ll take them!

This happened to me. My neighbor and I were pregnant at the same time, I wanted a Stephanie Ann... I miscarried in my third month, and six months later she named her daughter Stephanie Ann after I''d told her how much I loved the name.. I was crushed. Needless to say, our friendship dissipated. I got pregnant again a few months after I''d miscarried, I had my first son. Four children later and knowing I won''t have any more babies.. I can tell everyone! lol
That was just terrible of her.
29.gif
And I''m sorry about your miscarriage.

no offense, not only is that super mean and immature of her because she never told you, but it totally sounds like something that would happen on desperate housewives!!!!

if i were in your position, i would have seriously blackmailed her for the rest of her life.

So sorry to hear about your miscarriage

Our favorite names are

Jack Henry (Henry is my brother''s name)
Aidan James (another brother''s name)

Emma (we just like it)
Katherine (my grandmother''s name but I like it anyway)
Elizabeth-I do like the spelling Elisabeth as well though (for a cousin who passed away as a young child)

The funny thing is my bf''s last name is Italian and so the names we picked kinda sound strange. Aidan Domenico???
When we''re married we''re going to have nice Italian names-Anthony and Stephanie Domenico. Haha-we''re both English and Scottish!!

I gave my kids middle names that sound like last names, Maxwell, Harrison and Alexander...so they can always use them if they become famous
2.gif

(My oldest wants to be a rock star and thinks his name is too common, he wants a catchy name like Flea or Slash, so I told him to get to work thinking of one! I name him something too boring to be up in lights apparently!)

My cousins have VERY cool middle names

Marin Blair
Kate Paige

I''ve always been jealous of their names, I''m stuck with Stephanie Leigh.

reminds me of angelina and her brother.
maybe i should rethink our name selections...

what is wrong with them?

My first son, we already decided is going to be Michael Wolfgang (I know sounds backwards, but there''s a reason!) My future FI is a long line of Michael''s and I didn''t want to break the chain, so in theory he''ll be called Wolfie :) Named after my father.

I really wish they did that wilth my Future FI I LOOOOOVE Alex (his middle name.)

If we have two boys Kurt (after my grandfather), yes I''m German, can you tell?) Alexander
Julian- I love for a boy, but don''t think b/f would go for it

I like Elouise, Claire, Nina, Madison (unfortunately it''s so popular
7.gif
), Sophie, Sonja, Heidi, Aldeheid, Khristina

fun thread :-) DH wants a jr., so there will be a james hyuck, and i love jacob anthony (after my first dog and my father), and joanna faith, and beverley elizabeth (after my grandmother and what was her favorite name).

haha this made me chuckle because my little sister''s middle name is andromeda(my father loved this name and my mom gave it to him in order to get him to stop smoking) because my mom htought she would have been made fun of and and have trouble spelling it if it was her first name.

What are your favorite baby names? A coworker and I were talking about this today, and she was saying how she''s been teaching so long that she''s been so turned off from a few names because they reminded her of students she''s had (and apparently they didn''t leave a good impression).

I have a few friends who had the hardest time coming up with names for their kids because they already knew kids with those particular names they were considering. I never understood why that''s a big deal to some.

Anyway, girls names are easier to think of for some reason. Here are some of my favorites: Lily, Micaela, Chloe, Delaney, Katelyn, Kathryn, Ellie

Boys names: Ryan, Patrick, Jack, Nathaniel
i have the same problem!

Ryan is my absolute favorite
that is part of my sons middle name :)

For a Girl, I like Angelina Jennie & Evelyn Jane.

For a Boy I like Andrew Edward, & Milo Garrett

It''s funny how emotional names can be?!

My sister and I joked about fighting who got to name their daughter Heather and she had kids before me so she ''won''. We still joke about whether she was going to use it for a boys name as they really didn''t know that the baby was a girl until the day she arrived.

I have in-laws that both named their sons Thomas. One half of the parents are brother and sister so it''s really confusing for their mother as she has 2 grandsons called Thomas (not shortened for either)!! I wouldn''t even think to name our children any of the names used for children in our family or those of immediate friends.

I think we''ll have some discussing when the subject finally comes up as most of the names I like sound strange with our surname and I like the names (first, middle and last) to flow nicely. I also don''t like first and last names to use the same sound e.g. William West, Caroline Carter, Jenny Jamieson etc.

My dad is Welsh so I nearly ended up with Myfanwy Blodwen so although I escaped this, I may try and use a Welsh name somewhere. The problem is that no-one can spell these properly!! My sister has Sian as her middle name with the emphasis symbol on the ''a''. The problem is that it''s often mispelt as Sign if they don''t read properly and Sharn if they mishear. Annoying for her in so many ways!!

Picky Picky!!

So many interesting names on this thread, I love it!

For a boy we really like William (after my DH''s father), Will for short

For a girl we love Olivia, Isabella, or Elizabeth (after my mother).

That''s about all we''ve thought of for now, as we are waiting another year or so to get pregnant!

I have always had the worst time coming up with names I like, but my BF likes to bring the subject up. He loves the names Owen and Vaughn - he hasn''t come up with girl names, partially because he''s so stuck on the idea we need to have a boy first (haha, like we get a choice!). He''s the protective big bro of a very pretty sister, and he can''t stand the thought of having a daughter without somebody to play the role he did growing up. I think he gives himself a lot of credit for keeping her safe.

This made me laugh because that is sooooo my sister and me. I called my sister just to chit chat and I said if someday if I have a daughter I will name her Isabella after you (her middle name is Isabel). She was furious and said no; we came up with that name 1st. She has a boy but lets see who gets Isabella or even if I will like Isabella if I do ever have a baby. LOL!

My husband wants Mercedes for a girl (I wonder why he owns 2 of them)
14.gif
It is a pretty name, but I could see people teasing us. In fact my cousin named his daughter Shelby and he had a Cobra Shelby and everyone asked if that is where the name came from so no way to Mercedes.

There was another thread on this somewhere and I made DH play with me (we aren''t even 100% sure we want kids, but it was a fun evening walk game).

Boys: Colin, Cole, Charles, Isaac, Drew, Gabriel

Girls: Gillian, Delaney, Maureen, Meredith, Maryn, Mylie

I think my top two first/middle name combos would have to be Colin Patrick and Gillian Clare.

Holy moley KimberlyH....I just found out I''m pregnant with a girl & we''re pretty sure Delaney is her name!!

I have a son:

Jake Nicholas (just Jake, I am not fond of Jacob for some reason--I know, I named my kid the diminutive, but Jake is so cool, it stands well on its own).

My short list of names for girls was:

Delaney
Daphne (my fave flower/plant..I have them)
Samantha

For a boy: (but alas, I''m done...either myself or DH is getting fixed after this baby)

Samuel James

Must check ssa website.

Divergrrl aka Jeannine (aka the hardest name ever, I find myself spelling it daily for SOMEONE out there)
