Adaughter of the king of Denmark, sister of the Tsarina of Russia and sister of the King of Greece
Queen of the UK (and NZ) Empress of India

High society woman mimicked her limp she was so fashionable
And wore all those pearls on her neck to hide a scar

When more is definatly more

Who knows which ones are fake ?
Ive read her fakes were French

this is my favourite faux piece of my own
I brought it in 1990
Ive worn it lots

I would love to have it made in real pearls one day
maybe with an interchangeable centre

I just checked out a NZ supplier of Swarskovi pearls
OMG they were much much much cheaper than i thought they would be
Certainly cheap enough for a play with some faux Wilma's
Cheap enough to practice knotting

And I also have my eye on some light blue ones

Fun thread! These belonged mostly to my grandmother. A few strands are freshwater but the rest are all costume. I brought them All back from my parents house on the transatlantic plane ride... around my neck. I was a few pounds over my baggage limit. So pulled out all my faux bling, a coat, and donned it all at Virgin Atlantic's check in counter. I looked insane.

I have just ordered a fun strand of faux golden SS shell pearls. They had the rich gold or champagne colour.I chose the champagne from Youpearl

I also ordered some Swarovski pearls! I am using 22k gold beads in a necklace but the holes for the beads are gigantic compared to the thread, like almost 3mm, so i wanted beads to put next to it so I could knot them in place. Right now I’m using small 3mm black spinel beads but I think 3mm Swarovski might look nicer. I didn’t want to use real pearls since I know the edges of the gold bead would discolor it something terrible. I can’t wait to play with faux pearls!
