"Fancy White" diamond?!?

an opaque diamond???

also what is L10?

also in my opinion it''s not very pretty...

Reminds me of a moonstone.

Fancy whites are not my cup of tea but live and let live, or buy and let buy.

I also do not like low color diamonds, or heavily included ones.
No matter, people like them and buy them.
To each his or her own.

Fancy whites is just another of the many types of diamonds.
I'd love so see one some day.

It looks more like a colorless opal than a diamond.

Not really my thing. I''ve seen less opaque fancy whites and I liked them more. This just isn''t my cup of tea. I like pretty much every other color of diamond out there though.

in my opinion the opaqueness sort of detracts from the reason I like diamonds in the first place (dispersion/high refractive index).

I''ve seen one or two photos before - thanks for reminding me of how lovely these are! I think they''re v. unusual, and v. attractive ....

I''d love to see this in person. Could be either total blah or dreamy

I think it''s pretty, but I wouldn''t pay that much for it. If I''m gonna drop 3 grand - I want it to sparkle.

Interesting! I''ve never seen or heard of that before.

Agreed. I think it has potential, but not $3k''s worth

If the pictures are accurate (and I have no reason to think otherwise) this is a pretty good example of a fancy white diamond. As mentioned earlier there are varying degrees of opacity in fancy white and this tends towards to more opaque side. In terms of the price (and I am not a pricing expert) I think it should be mentioned that there are not a lot of these floating around, in my experience they are quite rare, and this may justify this type of price. To some degree this kind of diamond is a curiosity, and something that should be judged on its own merits and not in comparison to other colored diamonds.

A further note is that the vast majority of white diamonds are colored by inclusions thus they do not get clarity grades. If one were to try to assign a clarity to something like this it would likely be out of the GIA grading scale (below I3).

Good luck

Not many seem to like these fancy whites, but I like stones that are different. In a world of unlimited funds, I would have a three stone ring made up of these, set in pink gold. Would go well with pastel-y summer outfits as a RHR. I can fantasize!

I'm among those who loves just about every natural color in diamonds....but not really fancy white.
I will admit that years ago, the first time I was offered a fancy white, I thought the cutter was joking- especially when he told me the price!

I could never wrap my mind around an opaque diamond which costs that much....... but of course, different strokes for different folks!

Diamond lovers, what do you think of this listing for a ''Fancy White'' diamond?

Is it just marketing for L10? I''ve never seen this before and was curious what you thought...
You can buy faceted opal, with similar white and beautiful orange flashes of fire for much much less.

It looks like an opal to me...

It would be a conversation piece.
I guess it just appeals to very different tastes than the usual,
But--if they think of a good name for them, they will sell. "Fancy white" doesn''t have enough of a ring to it. (Chocolate or champagne, anyone?)

i actually like that.. but.. not for an engagement ring though.. maybe for something else like a pendant

It looks like an ugly opal or moonstone.
