I found a 0.23 carat GIA certified fancy light blue diamond through an online vendor that I am interested in. Has anyone seen a fancy light blue diamond in person or have any photos of blue diamonds of that intensity mounted in jewelry? I have been told that a fancy light blue is going to be less saturated than a yellow of the same grade. I did find one video on youtube, and I couldn''t detect any blue color at all. Thank you for your assistance.

What are you going to do with it?

Hi Susie,

I have a fancy light blue but unfortunately don''t have photos of it. I do have photos of my fancy grayish blue pear though. Hope this helps you in regards to seeing an actual blue mounted in a setting.

Did more digging and found a pic of the light blue :) It''s not set yet.

I''m so sorry for the giant picture. I didn''t realize that it was going to be so big. Your light blue actually looks very blue to me. Thank you for sharing your collection. I was thinking of using it as part of a pendant.

Do you have any other photos of your blue? I think your stone would be gorgeous as part of a pendant. Are you thinking of making the pear part of a drop style? What metal do you want to use? I would love to know more about your design and how you plan to set it.

My fancy light blue can look a little washed out depending on the lighting, but I think you can see the blue most of the time.

HI susiegrneyes
I would agreee that a Fancy Light Yellow has more apparent color than a Fancy Light Blue- mainly becasue yellow is a "stronger" color in diamonds.
Also true that a light yellow set in yellow gold will assist in magnifying the color.
There''s no equivalent in a "blue metal"

kroshka- those are some LOVELY rings!!!

Fancy yellow is not rare.
Fancy blue and pink are very rare.
GIA uses lower amounts of saturation and tone for the rare hues in its grading methodology.

Here is my blue diamond :)

I also have green diamonds backed by black rhodium: Dirty and poor photo but u get the idea.

I'm envious of the Pink Diamonds and hope to own one someday in the near future.

Rparker, those are very beautiful stones and rings.
BTW is the color of those blue and green diamonds treated or of natural origin?

I do not mean to be impolite, but I only ask because I think the OP was looking for pics of diamonds with color of natural origin.

While both beautiful, diamonds of natural vs. treated color have very different markets, price points and appearance.
Therefore it seems appropriate that pics here (which viewers will use to learn about colored diamonds) should be identified as having natural or treated color.

Great point Garry- GIA will recognize far smaller amounts of hue if it''s pink, blue or green. We see this in the grades such as ''Faint Pink" or "Very Light Green"- such intensities do not exist in the yellow domain.
To my eye though, the Fancy Light Blue stones I''ve seen have a similar amount of intensity to a yellow- again, given that the color blue itself is less pervasive.
Although we buy quite a few, I do not find Fancy Yellow to be all that common.
For example, try and find a nice 5.00ct Fancy Yellow Radiant nowadays

..not all that easy, especially compared to a few years back!!
