I''m not interested in these 2 diamonds but just using them as examples...

Can you get an idea of the face up size of a diamond based on its measurements?

This princess cut is has measurements of 7.00 x 7.25 x 5.14

While this round has measurements of 7.49 x 7.52 x 4.65

Based of these is it safe to say that the round will be just as big if not bigger than the princess? Or do we have to take the table into consideration.

I apologize if this question is simple or stupid but just trying to grasp this concept. Thanks so much for your input!

Depends on the cut and how you mount the princess too.

In terms of dimensions, diagonal of the princess is about 9.9mm, so if the stone is mounted kite style, it will look bigger.

Area comparison, 49mm^2 for the princess verse 44mm^2 of the round.

Where did you get the 49mm and 44mm numbers from?

But you are saying that you can NOT get an accurate depiction of the face up size of a diamond from the measurements? Whats the most accurate way to do it?

Where did you get the 49mm and 44mm numbers from? Basic geometry. L x W for the princess. Pi x Radius squared for the round

But you are saying that you can NOT get an accurate depiction of the face up size of a diamond from the measurements? Whats the most accurate way to do it? You can get an accurate size from the mm measurements, but carat weight doesn't always translate to larger face-up, especially in a princess.
