For everyone I''ll give a little background....

We are taking our engagement photo''s November 4th. I called this salon, Facade, to do my make-up (they did Appletini''s for her wedding) earlier this week and they were all booked so I was

. I went into Facade''s salon Thusday just to look at pics of previous work and they are FABULOUS!!! And the salon is so nice and upscale...and very friendly to compared to other bridal make-up salons I''d called (aka theperfectface). So I was disappointed that they wouldn''t be able to do my engagement portrait make-up but def wanted to have a trial with them for the wedding.

After talking with photg last night we pushed the time of our shoot back a few hours. I called Facade this morning just in case they had an opening and they DID!!! I''m so

excited! YIPEE!

So Appletini...I know you''ve mentioned LOVING Facade..give me details...and who did you make-up?! Did you do a trial?!

Rose,

For my engagement pics I had my makeup done at the Laura Mercier counter at Neiman Marcus for free (well almost b/c I did buy a few things) and then I looked great for our date after the pics. I didn''t want to spend a ton of money since I only needed the makeup for 1 hour.

For my wedding, I did not do a makeup trial, b/c Facade is so expensive and since they are the best, I trusted them that I wouldn''t need one, I knew they''d do a great job and they did. I had Corrine do my makeup...she is the owner and is so awesome and talented, but their other artists are great too. Corrine had me look through a book of pictures for makeup style I wanted and then she worked her magic. For my 2 MOHs their special MOH gift was to have their makeup done at Facade the day of the weeding and they loved it to and we were so excited that I did that for them. Oh and definitely get the fake eyelashes...they are $25 extra but so worth it, especially for me b/c mine are so short and straight.

I did however have a hair trial b/c that was a must. Do you plan on having your regular hairdresser do your hair? I had wanted to wear my hair down and straight b/c DH loves my hair down, but due to the humidity and my hairs tendancy to frizz, Juan decided to do it half up and curly so it could be controlled.

where is the salon located? sounds awesome!

rose,

Where are you taking your epics and who is your photographer? We took ours at the Houston Garden Center and Herman park b/c it looks like so many different places.

diamondfan,

Its in uptown park near the Galleria.

Thanks for the info Apple!

I''m so excited about having them do my make-up for the epics. I''m thinking that if I love the way I look for the epics I won''t need to do another "trial" for the wedding, bc it is A LOT of money. I''m so glad that I read that you had your make-up done there bc I haven''t seen it on any of the wedding websites or mags! How did you hear about them? I want Corinne to do my make-up the day of the wedding, but she wasn''t available the 4th...Monique is doing it.

Oh and ya, I for sure am going to have a hair trial for the wedding...just not sure about the make-up..I also want most of my hair down (FI loves my long hair) but I do want it partly up/styled and curled. Facade recommended a few hair places they have had previous experience with. I''m thinking I will have them come to Facade''s location the morning of my wedding day so it will be a one stop event. Our wedding is startingat 11 AM....so I need all the time I can get!

We are doing our epics with Shining Images Photography. We actually won the sitting at the Bridal Symposium not too long ago. There''s no obligation to have them do our wedding photog, but if we like his work we''ll go ahead and book him. We are doing our epics downtown...he mentioned some park/garden...a water fountain etc...sorry can''t remember the EXACT location he said. We''re taking a few pics with our dogs so that should be interesting! I''m super excited!

Be sure to post your pictures...I know they will be gorgeous!

My sorority alum club had a mini-makeovers at Facade a few years ago for one our monthly events, and I loved it when I was there and a friend used them for her wedding so between the two I was sold. Plus I wanted to look like me.

I saw the Perfect Face website and their before and after pics were so extreme, not to sound conceited, but I didn''t think that I needed lots of "help" to look beautiful on my wedding day, I just wanted to look good and have my makeup last until the end of the night. I also got monthly facials for 5 months leading up to the wedding so that my skin would be in great shape.

Oh what a fun event for your alum sorority group! What sorority where you in? I'm an AXO...so just curious!

I also post on theknot.com's houston board and everyone and their Mother is going to theperfectface. I did see the before and after pics and they are like "WHOA." I want to be recognizable! Plus when I walked into Facade I felt comfortable and loved their salon. So I'm expecting great things from them...we shall see. And I'll def post pics with I get them. Thx for all your help.

I''m a Pi Phi. Corrine said that Facade is just like a sorority house everything is always so fun with all the girls around. The girls on the knot are so crazy, they get so carried away with everything. Have you gone dress shopping? What salons are you going to?

I know a girl who was a Pi Phi @ Texas Tech! Lol....I can imagine it being like a sorority house! I did notice that there is a guy who works there too when I went in this week...maybe it''s a relative?!

I actually already bought my dress!

The weekend after we got engaged my Mom and I went to Panache to try on dresses. I pretty much knew what style I wanted so I went in tried a few on and found one I really liked. I decieded to keep looking to just make sure. My next door neighbors daughter recently got married and recommended that we go to Weddings by Debbie. I hadn''t heard of it, but I''m SOOO glad that she told me about it. At was a little nervous at first since we had to make an appoitment but I loved it. It was a little overwelhming with the selection...but like I said I knew what I was looking for and I found it. I tried on several dresses all different styles etc...and left the one I liked best on the hanger for last. As soon as I put it on I was all smiles and knew it was the one so we bought it that night. Nothing else would compare in my eyes to the dress so I knew it was the one! IT should be in around December they said so I cannot wait! The one I tried on was a 8 and I''m a 2...so it will be nice to try it on in my size.

Here''s a link to the dress...http://www.maggiesottero.com/dress.aspx?pageSize=8&page=2&style=J199

I tried on a veil at WBD that I loved but it was like $150-200. Before I spend that on a veil that I''ll wear for 30 minutes I''m going to keep looking around...just don''t know where!

Oh and about Houston *knotties* as they call themselves...I don''t exactly *fit in.* Most of them post all day at work, which I can''t/won''t do. There''s a group that is pretty close and like to stick together. They can be pretty b!tchy and don''t like people who don''t agree with them. I try not to post on that board that often...

I know the guy you are talking about...I think his name is Eric and I''m sure he''s gay, but I think he''s be so fun to go shopping with.

Your dress is gorgeous! I bought my dress from Weddings by Debbie and it was a disaster. If you have any problems or cencerns talk to AJ right away...she''s the owners daughter and the only one who will make sure everything is done right.

I bought my veil on ebay for $20 and my aunt didn''t believe me...she thought it was $400. Here is the link to the ebay store...it also arrived in less than a week.

Thx!! Oh no...what was so disasterous @ WBD?! AJ is actually who measured me for my dress. She''s such a "real" woman..not fake at all.

OMG!!! That Ebay store looks awesome! I''ll have to spend some time on there looking for a veil. So you were impressed with your veil from them? I looked a little and it said that these veils retail around $200. You liked the quality and all?

My gown was a pronovias...I have since discovered that Saks and Casa de Novia no longer carry their gowns because they have had so many problems with them. When my gown came in it was 2 inches too small in the hips...my original sales lady (Leslie) was on maternity leave and I dont think AJ was there that day, and Elaine? was the one had helped me out...anyway it was obviously too small and she and everyone else in there were going on and on about how great it looked...it didn''t matter to them that I looked like a sausage...they kept saying oh it could be altered...well i wasn''t going to spend $$$ on alterations so I took it to Arlene at Beautiful U...the silk would scar if it were let out. I sent AJ an an email about how disappointed I was, especially since I put a rush on my gown and it was 3 weeks until my wedding. I brought it in and she measured the inside...had pronovias overnight a panel of fabric and WBD remade the front of my gown from the waist down (the bodice was rushed). She didn''t charge me any fees for this and refunded my $200 rush fee. It all worked out in the end, but I should have never had to experience that trauma.

The veil quality was great and it wasn''t even wrinkled when it arrived. All veils look the same and I had only planned to wear mine for the ceremony so it was perfect.

Rose, I can''t wait to see your e-pics! I didn''t even think about getting my makeup done for ours, but we were at the beach and I wouldn''t have really had time anyway I guess. Have fun!

I know Robbie I can''t wait either!!

We''re still trying to workout wardrobe etc. I''m hoping to go clothes shopping next weekend. Our photog recomended bring a change of clothes for some variation...so I''m thinking we''ll do a more casual look then dress it up a little.

I loved your epics Robbie!!
