I've had these two stones (red spinel and tsavorite) sitting around for about 10 years and finally had them set by Ivy & Rose. The stones are much sparklier and lively in person, but I can't capture it.:oops2:

They’re both so beautiful!! The setting you chose for your tsavorite is gorgeous- I was looking at that for a stone I have on the way. Do you love how it turned out?

I’m excited to see all this love to Ivy and Rose. I’ve been thinking about using them but was concerned that their pricing would translate into their service. It sounds like that’s not the case. :D I could use an inexpensive setting to help make up for all the custom projects. :???:

I’m loving the recent additions!

For people who used Ivy & Rose, did you ask them to upgrade the diamonds? Do you have other tips for a smooth transaction? I have worked with them in the past, but am finding communication difficult now... Maybe due to their seeming popularity!

I emailed them directly first, telling them what stones I had and asking for their opinions/suggestions. They responded the next business day. They were great to work with, sent CADs of their mounts for approval, and also sent finished photos for approval before sending the rings to me. I did not upgrade anything. The entire process took about 6 weeks. Just be sure to ask about all costs, because I had to pay for the mount, altering it to fit my spinel, and a setting fee. There was an extra $200 surprise when I was invoiced. I would definitely work with them again. I am really pleased with their work!

My experience with Ivy & Rose was quite similar to MrsKMB. I usually set a specific budget for my projects so I quizzed Ilya when he mentioned one setting needed modifications (hence my million and one questions!). I also didn’t upgrade any of the diamonds and am quite satisfied with the melee they used.

If you don’t hear back within a day or two, I wouldn’t hesitate to send a quick follow-up or give them a call directly.

Gorgeous!!! I can easily see why this is a favourite. Stunning stone. Is it a green tourmaline?

Yes it’s a green tourmaline with a blue tint! So glad to finally have it out of the box and on my hand :)
The colour is stunning! Where did you find the stone?
The jeweller did a great job with the setting

It’s from excess designs in the US but the jeweller is in Singapore. Incredible cut, more than anything! I’m just clicking away, can’t stop.

I'm so excited that you've finally got this one set. I just love the color of that tourmaline. :kiss2: Can you post more pics? I'm curious what it looks like in profile.

Also, I'm calling dibs. If your ever crazy enough to sell this one, please let me know.

That is an amazing ring, Gemobsessed! The stone is gorgeous and the setting is simple and tasteful.

I bought a ring w melee and one diamond is terribly mismatched. It is smaller and looks very brown like scorched looking. I did not bother complaining about that to them because It was a cheap setting anyways and I am not based in the US so it would have been too much frustration to send it back. So it's possible to end up with bad looking melee from them I think,

I was considering using a $225 mount with no diamonds for the peach garnet I posted few days ago. A very thin setting weighing very little.

My stone is 8.9mm, bigger than the 8mm the stock mount is designed for. I got a quote to get it modified and to have it set as well. I need it sized down to 4.5 as well. Well after the customization the final price was $598 which is ridiculous. I would never pay $600 to have my stone set in that mount. In addition to the cost of shipping my stone to them. So I didn't go ahead with it. It's annoying because you do get charged separately for modification which I assume involves a new mold, apart from resizing, as well as setting. The setting and resizing fees are double what my local jeweler charges so it made no sense for me....so in my case it totally defeats the purpose of buying from them since the main reason I would use them is economy really.

RE: Ivy and Rose settings, I guess what I am saying is if you pick a cheap mount and have to alter it and your size is different from their stock size, the additional cost involved may comprise a large percentage of the final invoice (in my case the extra costs are more than the mount itself) which might not make any financial sense to the buyer.
