DH and I occasionally play role player games. He plays (actually mans the controls) but we make the decisions together.

Our favorite to date has been Dragon Age 3 and this weekend we bought Fable 3 and spent evenings this weekend playing it.

I can't really say why it sucked (but boy did it) without getting into spoilers, but if you've been wanting this game. But it used. Don't spend full price. TOTALLY not worthwhile.

It must be true! My husband was playing this when our xbox started refusing to read the disc. I admit I am curious as to why it sucked so badly though.

If you liked Dragon Age, have you tried Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2?

I'm not much of a gamer, but DH is, and I find I'm only interested in RPG games. I enjoyed Fable II (I haven't played Fable) and loved Mass Effect. Mass Effect 2 turned me off because they changed the controls and the fights are much harder... Since I don't play that much, I'm not a skilled player and I don't like it when it's too difficult, I'm only interested in the story! I started playing Fable III. I don't have a lot of time so I haven't gone that far yet, but I enjoy it. It's not difficult, there's an interesting story to it (more interesting than most one-person shooter games IMO), I like the RPG format, and that's it. My standards aren't that high though. ;))

ETA: DH bought Dragon Age for PC, but I haven't played it.

Oh yeah, I guess that's out now.

Fable II was real bad. I pretty much lost faith and interest in any future Molyneux projects after that. He has a lot of interesting ideas, but for a guy who has such strong opinions about game design, his actual game proved to be a massive disappointment. Granted, I'm picky when it comes to RPGs, but even so I am not at all surprised to hear Fable III is no good.

Bioware RPGs are much MUCH better from a writing/storytelling standpoint, so I love Dragon Age (although Awakening was a small step down from Origins, IMO) and Mass Effect (where the second game was at least as good as the first, and I'm really excited to see where they go with the third game). Most of the Rockstar games (Bully, Grand Theft Auto, Red Dead Redemption) aren't really RPGs, but they do have enough amusing dialogue and plot to be worth looking at for RPG fans.

The good thing about the Bioware games is that you can scale the fighting down if you're in it for the storyline.

Wow, I surprised it's sucky. I went to gamestop to pick up my Sims game at midnight and there were like 30 people there for the new Fable. Good to know, since I was becoming curious since everyone else there was getting it and I had never heard of it.

Yatzee of the escapist gave fable 2 a rather scathing review, so I'm not surprised that the 3rd edition disappoints.
Sequels are always such a gamble.

Haha, yes I know. It tells a lot about my gaming skills that even on the "easy" level the mechs at the beginning kept killing me. I got bored fast. I didn't have that problem with the first ME though. I'm a big sci-fi geek, so ME was more up my alley than Dragon Age or Fable.
