I haven't worn them in almost twenty years, but its time to get a pair. So, what is in, and what's cute?

Whatever looks good on you! :D

I'm hoping someone else will chime in here...it would be great to narrow down the choices.
I''ve looked for glasses as well and actually Soocool, none look great on me. :((

It's very awkward to adjust to seeing yourself in glasses after not wearing them for a long time. I would love to help with what's in and not in, but honestly, wit varying face shape and such, a style that's popular may not look good on you. My glasses are almost rectangular, and dark red. I love the look of chunky frames, but they sadly look awful on me.

One tip that the Dr gave me... I have a pretty strong prescription (ok, who am I kidding, I'm blind as a bat!!), and a full frame helps hide the thickness of the lenses. Just try on as many as you can, and bring along someone you trust who will give you their honest opinion.

Do what I did last time. Have someone photograph you wearing the ones you like. Write down the styles so you know which is which. Then go home and download the photos and decide. Sometimes this may not help you pick the frames you'll end up with, but will definitely eliminate the styles and or colors that don't work. Believe me, it takes me at least a good month to find frames that I love.

I'm not really sure what's in style now, but a few years ago when I was buying new frames the plastic ones seemed to be in style, rather than metal. I think the most important thing though is to make sure it fits your face - the most chic frames can look ridiculous if they're too wide or narrow for your face. Also, some shapes look better than others for our face, so try one of each shape (even if you're not initially drawn to it) and see which works the best, then move on to picking a particular frame.

I used to have the "frameless" ones which I really liked. Sadly, a friend stepped on them and broke them. They are really classy looking, IMO. If you like your glasses to barely be noticeable, they're good to go with. I have rectangular black ones that I like. There are so many shapes and styles, you should go try some on and bring someone with you who is an honest opinion giver :)

yeah, I would try them on-not all glasses look good on all people. usually the people at the eye place are really helpful in selecting frames but it's a good idea to bring an honest friend along!

Glasses are one item where I refuse to follow trends and fashions. It is on your face 24/7 (except for sleeping hours!). It should be fairly neutral, in order to fit in every occasion and match most outfits. Few people pdate their frames yearly or so, so you would probably end up with an outdated pair of glasses quickly.

The shape, as PP have mentioned, should compliment your face. Remember that you can customize the shape of the lower half of half frames (mine, for example, are much squarer than the ones on the display frames).

Now, it would be fabulous and fun to have a miniature eyeglass wardrobe.

I found a website with really inexpensive eyeglasses... Let me do some digging and I'll see if I can find it again. It was like $30 for a pair including the lenses! I've never ordered, but a friend of mine has and was really pleased.

Found it!! Now, I'm sure these aren't going to be the most fantastic quality, but for a backup pair, or for an extra fun pair just becasue, you can't beat it!

Mmmm..I don't agree completely. It seems as though glasses do not go out of fashion yearly. I've noticed this with a lot of different types of glasses that have stuck around for quite some time. Mine included. I also don't think that they "should" be neutral. They SHOULD be something you like, and something that looks nice on your face as you already said. If she wears contacts, they don't necessarily have to 'fit' every occasion, either. Even then, I think it would be hard for me to point out someone in a room full of people with different glasses and say, "those glasses don't fit for every occasion."

I think that frameless glasses tend to age people, and I stay away from them. Otherwise, go with something that matches your personality. I try to think of my galsses as an accessory and have fun with them.
