Extremely Thin Girdle - Please help

Dear All,

Am I right in my assumption that a ring with an extremely thin girdle should never be touched with a bargepole?
Does the extremely thin girdle mean that chipping is almost an inevitability - or can I buy with confidence as long as I use an expert setter?

There are lots of fish in the sea. If you have the slightest concern about the XThin girdle (and I would) look around some more.

Another option is to have a pro look at the girdle and see how much of it is dangerously thin. I dunno exactly how the labs grade the girdle but only a portion may be Extremely Thin.
