Extra-thin girdle and faux bezels

Hi there,

Curious to hear your thoughts about faux bezels and extra-thin/thin girdles -- do they actually protect the diamond from damage the way regular bezels do?

I do not mean raised faux bezels, but the flat ones like this

From some common angles yes.
For example acting like a bumper when reaching into things.
