I just upgraded my diamond to a GIA certed triple 'ex'. The dimensions of this diamond are very different from my original stone. This new diamond, that I just purchased and had set yesterday, looks so different from my last diamond that I traded-up this one up for. I'm liking the new stone...but wondering if the angles of this stone are what I'm perceiving as broad flashes of color, vs my original stone that had more of a fine scintillation. As well, and I know it's late to ask, but did I do okay price-wise? This is my second upgrade -- my first little stone that we paid around $1,500 CAD dollars for back in 1996 (.67, good cut, J color, VS2, which I traded-up to a 1.05, very good cut, F color, SI2 eye clean stone that I paid an additional $3,500 CAD, plus compensation for my original stone in 2006, to this current stone that I just paid $5,500 CAD for (total of 10,500 CAD for all three trades). Here is the GIA grading report or my stone.

My current stone did score 1.4 on the HCA.
I'm enjoying the look and size of this new stone, as it better fits my setting, but wondering if the 'chunky' color show that I'm seeing is indicative of a stone off this type of cut (shallow cut, I believe it is (?)) and if there are any inherent negative issues with this cut.... and wondering if I did a good trade-up price wise...bearing in mind these are Canadian dollars. Basically I paid $10,500 CAD over a 20 year period to get my current stone.
One more question.... This stone is 7.17 x 7.18 in diameter... I'm wondering why it's so much larger face-up than other 1.33 ct stones I see on-line which range closer to 7.0. I'm not complaining about the size, but just curious.
