I am ring searching & yesterday I looked at a ring that had pink gold on it. I immediatly completly loved it, but the more I think about I wonder if it is something I would get tired of.

Has anyone worn a ring with "colored" gold specifically pink???

I would love to hear your opinions

Thanks

That''s a pretty broad question - a ring, any ring, with rose gold? I have a tri-color (yellow, white and rose) 18kt gold rolling ring. I also have a very thin (~1mm) rose gold spacer ring that I like to wear between my white engagement and wedding rings.

My wife wears a fairly delicate ( small) engraved pink gold diamond band - with little pink diamonds.
She's had it about a year...no sign she's getting tired of it!

I suppose it also depends on the type of ring...

Sorry, that was a broad question

. Here is the ring 2nd row, 2nd ring.

It would be for an engagement ring with wedding band.

I am just wondeing if it were my primary ring -- would pink get old, or has pink gold been around forever & I just have never noticed it?

I remember black hills gold. Is this the same type thing?

Pink gold has actually been around a very long time. Go to any antique jewelry show and you will see a ton of it. It''s actually having a revival right now. I love it, and I wear a rose gold ring with diamonds every day.

the ring looks beautiful! :)

I did contemplate doing something similar when I was customizing my engagement ring setting - but the jeweler warned me that because of the color contrast the center stone will look smaller since the eyes will be attracted to the darker color, and because i love size, i didn''t do it. i don''t know if that is of concern to you, and if not that is a gorgeous ring :)

That explains why I really do like that style of ring with pink gold. I have realized that I really like antique rings.

I just didn''t want to be leaning towards something fadish (is that a word
26.gif
?).

For me, I think it would end up looking "faddish" if it had a white diamond in there. The reason I primarily like rose, pink, red (many names there) gold is to highlight a particular stone color. For example, a pink sapphire, a pink diamond, a peachy colored stone. I have a green grey diamond in a rose gold setting, and it really highlights the stone color because of the contrast of metal and color.

However, if it were me, I think I would do a white diamond in a white metal. I personally don''t like white diamonds in yellow or rose gold, unless they''re mellee surrounding a stone that is the showcase of the ring. JMO, and I''m sure others would disagree. In the end, it really has to be YOU who likes it, not me or anyone else.

I think pink gold is gorgeous...I also think it''s pretty trendy right now. So you just should make sure that you love it because you love it, not because it''s all over the celeb magazines right now.

I think if your worried you might get tired of it, you probably will get tired of it. personally I have found after many years of setting searching that the classics are classics for reasons. If you want to add some color or rose gold maybe opt for a few different wedding bands that you could mix and match with the e-ring but still keep the e-ring a solid color. Your personality and lifestyle comes into play too.

It's a lovely design - I don't think the pink would necessarily get old (if you TRULY love it, which it sounds like you may not), but I personally wouldn't like to have invisible-set stones like that (four princesses set to look like one). ETA: I know that some people love that look, and I have nothing against it other than that it seems precarious and I myself prefer a single centre stone.

I am still not sure about it -- but I truly appreciate all of your opinions

That is not the diamond I would go with I would probably use a cushion or round -- I for one, don''t like the invisible set stones (made to look like one) either.

Ya know -- I had not thought about that.

But, I do want the diamond to look as big as possible, since I can''t afford a huge rock

Thanks for the post!

I have a friend whose engagement ring is set with four invisible-set princesses like that. She's chic, and she and her husband could definitely afford a single larger stone if they wanted to. It's not my personal taste, but if it's yours, I say go for it. (Though you might have to take extra care not to damage the ring--settings like that can be fragile.) [Edited to add: oops, I see you're planning to use a single stone. Never mind, then.]

As for rose gold, it may be popular now, but it's also classic. It was popular all through the 19th century and during various periods in the 20th century, such as the Retro period (40s-50s).

That sort of does make me feel more comfortable with this ring, b/c it does seem like a classic in many ways. It keeps making it''s way back into fashion.

I am thinking this ring may look great with an OEC or OMC. Then again it may all be too much & take away from the beauty of the old cuts.
Any thoughts on that

Everytime I see a ring with pink gold - that is precisely what I see - the PINK GOLD. I have looked at a lot of them lately and decided that I would tire of it. Instead, I think I would ask for a ring with pink gold for a present from someone and then could wear it as I pleased.
16.gif
I also like the idea of pink gold bands as an accessory - there are some gorgeous bands out there that would be fun to play dress up with. BUT that is just me - I also paint my walls neutral so I can accessorize the rest of the room!!!!! Good Luck in your decision.

I am focusing in the pink gold too. And I do love it, but since this may be my last setting, the commitment does worry me a little.

That company does make that exact ring in all white gold or platinum. I bet I could get a rose gold & diamond band to sit between ny e-ring and wedding band -- but wait that means I have to buy 3 rings

darn it

Halos are really trendy right now, and I think the fashion will move on in a few years. But, your ring is your ring, and if you love it now, chances are you will still love it many years from now. I know many ladies still wearing their marquis diamond rings, and if they wanted to change to something more current, they surely could.

But if you aren't sure that you like that ring, I'd skip it and look for something that makes your heart sing.

ETA - My ring has yellow side stones, and I have had it for 8 years, and I still love the yellow. Goes with everything, as far as I'm concerned.

The way I see it: getting the white gold/platinum would give you an excuse to ask for many pretty pink gold rings/bands for many years to come! .... always thinkin'' ahead!

And just so you know - I love the pink gold... have a black hills gold ring from 25 years ago that I still adore. BUT - that one I take off and put on as I please.

Everyone at PS is awesome

Great comments, experiences & suggestions!!
This is why I love to come here. I have to "talk" out my ideas and this way I don''t have to bother my husband -- Oh how he tires of me droning on & on about new projects that I decide on

Thanks again!

Cartier has been making the tri-colored Trinity ring since, I think, 1924. It''s still a very popular piece--and beloved by many PS members

I don''t that rose gold is going out of style anytime soon.

I am also considering going with rose gold for my new wedding ring and need some advice.

I have a champagne diamond, with pinky hues and want at least a rose gold head/prongs to compliment the diamond color. I also love the classic antique look, BUT I really want a halo style setting! The halo style has also been around for ages and can be considered classic, IMO...(there are tons of older halo settings on Fay Cullen for example)...

But I am torn, do I get the whole ring done in rose gold, or just the halo part? I personally think it would look more classic if the whole setting was rose gold instead of the two tone...and I''d have some white accent diamonds to break it up too. I have very fair skin and think the pinky gold color would show up nicely on my hand, but I''ve never had any rose gold jewelry before, I wear mainly white gold and silver.

How does rose gold hold up compared to 14K white or yellow? Is it softer, does it scratch, or is it about the same as far as durability goes? and has anyone had any allergic reactions from rose gold?
