Has anyone had any experience with a vendor called Brilliant Earth? They carry diamonds of canadian origin and seem to not carry as high a premium as other canadian diamonds.

Thanks for your help!

I''ve noted some related discussion here....

I picked through their site because of the other discussion that Ira linked to and I didn't find much in the way of specific offers of stones for sale. Maybe I'm looking in the wrong place or you have to call for details. Your questions suggests that you are familiar with their pricing and you mentioned that they sell stones with a lower 'premium' than some other folks. Did you get an offer from them? Care to share it with us?

thanks for your responses!

I e-mailed them and they wrote back with several diamonds and prices. I''m not sure yet if they are GIA certified, but it seemed that the prices were maybe $1000- $1500 more on average than those listed on the "pricescope your diamond". I don''t have the prices on hand now though.

From what I can tell, most vendors here make every effort to go conflict-free, but as of yet the diamonds don''t come with certificate of origin-maybe that will change in the next couple of years with the new suggestions of the kimberley process.

Shiny,

I wrote an article on the topic of avoiding conflict diamonds here.
http://journal.pricescope.com/Articles/39/1/How-to-avoid-Conflict-Diamonds.aspx

There’s a discussion of it here

Brilliant Earth seems to be selling Canadamark as their biggest, and possibly only, selling point. I’ve never seen a specific offer from them, that’s why I asked. They have plenty of competitors who also sell Canadian goods so for customers who are committed to buying certified Canadian there is still the question of where to go to get the best stone for the best deal. If you use the search bar at the top for ‘Canadian’, you’ll find a fair amount of discussions about this general topic.

Here's a couple recent samples.

Are you an employee of or affiliated with Brilliant Earth?

Thanks for those links- I had seen the discussions but couldn''t find too many on-line vendors that sell canadian.

To answer your question-no! I''m not an employee of brilliant earth or affiliated with them-that''s why i''m asking about them.

Here is the e-mail that they sent me: ( I think that''s what you mean by a specific offer, and i hope i''ll allowed to post this)

Yup, that’s what I wanted. Write them back and get a little bit more information if you can:

1) What lab graded each stone?
2) What definition of ‘Ideal’ are they using for the ones that claim it?
3) Can they provide you with scans of the lab reports?
4) Can they provide a Sarin/OGI report on any or all of them?

Armed with this, start a new thread here with a headline like ‘Help me find the perfect Canadian diamond’ and be straight about what you’ve found and what you’re considering. You’ll get tons of assistance from the gurus. Look through the forum, browse the headlines a few pages deep for questions like that and read some of the threads of answers. You’ll see what I mean and you’ll be amazed. It’s a little harder to do this with the spec of certified Canadian goods but these people are amazing detectives. Not all Canadian stones are the same and they can help you choose the right one the first time. Tell them what requirements are important for you and it’s amazing what they can come up with.

Read the tutorial at the top of the page if you haven’t already.
