Hello All, am interested in either an all diamond or alternating diamond and sapphire wedding band. Only want the stones to go half way around NOT a full eternity band. I have leisurely been pricing each version at local B&M stores.

I like the look of a 2mm - 2.25 or even 2.5mm width. My engagement ring is approx. 2 - 2.25mm width, thus want to continue the trend in width.

So far I have encountered .30 - .38 ctw (diamonds F/G color, VS - SI clarity). Have not obtained stats for the sapphire component when speaking with SA.

1. Do I need to be as stringent comparing diamonds and sapphires of that size, as if looking at a loose center stone?

2. Is obtaining a certification, scopes, graphs...etc just as important?

Price ranges I am finding $450 - $600. These are quotes with no mention of certification, scope/picture.

My question does this price range sound too low? too high? average? right on target/about right? based on what I am looking for?

My ering is .70, oval SI, G color, .38ctw rb side stones F/G color SI.

Just trying to make an informed decision. If I have left out something your suggestions are welcomed!

For stones that small, I wouldn't expect individual scopes, certs, etc. although there are some vendors who pride themselves on using superbly cut diamonds even in melee. If that's important to you, several of the PS recommended vendors can set you up (but even then they aren't going to have a cert for every 10-pointer in the ring). If you just want a pretty ring, honestly, depending on the individual size of the stones I don't think it's going to make much difference.

It's hard for me to tell if the price range is reasonable without knowing what metal you're looking at or what the sapphires are (what quality, tcw, whether they're natural/heated/synthetic, etc.), but $450 to $600 doesn't sound way off for 14K gold, especially if the ring's being made to order.

Here''s a band from Cross Jewelers that tends to specialize in sapphires & diamonds, and I know several people here have been very happy with their work.
