After a long talk, we have decided to skip the traditional engagement ring for now and use the money for a more appealing down payment on our house (very responsible of us, I know
) I think he's more concerned about this decision than me, he says I'm going to have to be the one that explains to my friends because he doesn't want to look like "that guy". Sure I would love to have the 1.5 gorgeous Asscher we've been looking at, but I'll get it when the time it right. I'd rather have THE house and build our future together than the ring right now anyways.
So I've been wearing my grandmother's est 1940 ring that has a OEC center diamond since she passed away. We'd like to get a band made to sit flush up against the ring. We have a few concerns though. Does anyone have any experience with this, maybe even some pictures? We're worried the new band won't look right up against a vintage ring. Also, my Grandmother's ring shows a lot of wear on the sides from her wearing other rings with it. Does that wear effect the integrity of the ring?
Here's some pictures of the ring.
