Everyday Jadeite - love it, buy it, now you must wear it! Show us the jadeite you are wearing.

Ooh I love wuji, especially icy ones!

Tried one on the other day but decided against buying it. I really liked the distinct patches of green and black, but it needs a whiter, icier base

IMG_7231.jpegIMG_7228.jpeg

Gosh this looks amazing on ya!! The white base would totally be fireee~

Now I’ve another colour combo to check out, loving that bold black + strong green look! Was also looking at Chun Cai pieces, there’s too many jadeite colour combinations to love ❤️

Yes so true, I want one bangle to rule them all but it’s hard to find just one to love!

Although this one came close…

But the underside was cottony and the price was not worth it imo

I took a hard tumble on brick on Friday. Unfortunately, I had just happened to be carrying several bangles in a purse I had brought into show my jeweler. Three of my bangles broke. My knee is swollen up like a grapefruit and is deep purple. But nothing was broken and the knee is working fine. The bangle I was wearing is fine. I am considering a repair of the sentamental white and green with Churk in CA. It would have silver bandages. Also, it was interesting to note is it did not break along the healed stone lines

So sorry to hear this, glad that you’re okay.

In Chinese culture, we say that jade protects the owner and when jade breaks, it has absorbed the bad juju so it gets inflicted on the jade itself rather than you ❤️♥️

<3 This helps to sooth my mind. Thank you Polelo. It looks terrible, but everything is functioning. I thank the jade.

Oh @MMtwo you poor thing! I’m so sorry to hear that. Big big hugs.

I too subscribe to what @Pomelo mentioned.

One of my dogs was 11 at the time and had been very ill on and off. We could never find the cause for it. We were wondering if it was time as she had bouts where she was extremely sick. She was cuddling with me in the front yard when I saw a mosquito circling her and went into crazy Mama mode to kill it. My bangle unfortunately went SMACK as I tried to kill the mozzie and developed a large internal crack. But soon after that we worked out the cause of her issues (she couldn’t handle worming tablets anymore) and she lived happily and healthily for 3 more years. I’ve always believed that bangle paid for the last 3 wonderful years I had with her.

I’m so sorry @Pomelo. I miss-typed your name earlier! Thanks again for the kind thoughts. I am so glad my knee didn’t break. I landed so hard that the jewelry roll was pierced by the breaking jadeite.

Oh my gosh, that’s quite a tumble, thankfully the shards of jade didn’t pierce your skin too! Rest well ❤️

What a horrid shock it must have been, dear @MMtwo.
Your knee must have hurt a lot…glad nothing was broken and that your knee is working. How are you feeling today?
It is a pity the bangles broke - but better them than you. Sigh…it would be good to repair your sentimental bangle.
I hope you will recover well and soon. Sending big hugs with these orchids.IMG_0577.jpeg

Okay a qick update and replies. I went to the Emergicare and had a doctor look at the leg. Mind you, it does not hurt to walk on, bear weight or twist. She checked the alignments and planes and so on and didn't even x-ray it. But she was in chock that the impact did not break my leg. She said it should have. I am walking around fine. Oly discomfort is bruise and swelling. I'll post a picture, but hope it's not too bad to see. I then told my good doctor it was most certainly jade protection :) True or not, it is the sweetest thought. I will reply in line.

Oh, and pictures of the bangles (the thin black one I already tossed out). Notice it di nt break on the big stoneline. You can also see the case tears from the fall.

I do believe that may have happened and love this. I think you should get a georgeous bangle! I loved what you had shown earlier. The green with black was especially pretty. I look forward to your selection!

I love this story :) You are a sweet protector and it paid off. I am glad you had extra time with your baby. It is so hard to see them sick. Did you repair the bangle?

I hope that's all the juju that needs absorbing in the near future! I have not decided to send it in yet, but if it did save me, how could I not do it? Still debating w my pocket book.

My knee should hurt much worse than it does. Thank you for always being such a beautiful friend. I am well on the mend I think.

Dear @MMtwo, I am glad you got your knee checked. Thank goodness nothing seems to be broken. Your knee shows how great the impact was. You are so strong - you must have high bone density! Please monitor your progress especially after the swelling recedes. Other injuries (hope not) may become more apparent after the swelling subsides. May you continue to heal well and stay protected!
Fun fact re: Jade protection. The symbol associated with good health, protection and longevity is the “Hulu” or calabash.IMG_8169.jpeg

so all day i look at that jade hued energy drink in the coke fridge at work ....thinking about all your jade on here
i know i could not be trusted with really good jade
but back a few pages you were all discusiing about buying a practice bangle to see how it would go
i can not find a single oval bangle on etsy (i must be doing something wrong)
can someone help me with how to size
pardon me with bringing other stones into your jade thread but im very clumsy and dont want to break a jade one first day
i would like to go with a carnelian bangle first as its my alternitive birth stone and i love orange
but i also love this agate one as a started bangle

I thought of you, @Daisys and Diamonds, and all the wonderful baked goods at your shop.
This was a madeleine disguised as a doughnut.

i had to google madeleine
i feel like that could have been something grandma might have made, she had all sorts of weird and wonderful cake tins
they look yum

This looks helpful, and there is a video showing how to do it. I don’t wear jade bangles myself but I understand from what I’ve read and seen that an oval bangle may be harder to manage than a round one.

I have not tried an oval yet, but I read that you would size up by 3 mm's from the normal size... a bit tricky.

I love the information you bring to us! Good to know of the hulu and protection.
I am on the hunt for a bright green bi. I can’t get my lost beauty out of my mind. I almost went forward with a bi from Taiwan, but then the post office closed due to the end of the de minimus 800 exemption. Only jade already in USA for a while, I guess.
Doughnut, anyone?IMG_0591.jpeg
That saturation is remarkable! Just so special!

So cute! Here is my Squishmallow with jadeite and diamonds.IMG_8568.jpeg
Darling butterflies!

Bringing out the jadeite beads even though it’s a cold night!!! Also isn’t Chansey lovely? Can be seen at a distance!

IMG_8867.jpeg

You look lovely! The beads are a great size on you and are very pretty with the pearls! Your rings are lovely too! Hope you had a wonderful dinner.

Today I wear a bangle that reminds me of calligraphy. It is blueish green bean, with a big green splotch. Still really sad about my broken bangle.

IMG_4472.jpegIMG_4473.jpeg

My bangle came and I love the color. I can’t feel any of the cracks on the surface. IMG_0185.jpeg

I’d love to know more about your bangle! The width is gorgeous, wide bangles have so much gravitas. Yours also looks quite thick, often in China when people buy nephrite bangles, they’ll also take the weight (in grams) into consideration.

Did the seller’s description say anything about the origin and colour etc? It looks like spinach green to me, the most sort after colour in green nephrite :kiss2:

Your two lavender jade pieces are so special! Any chance we could see a side by side comparison of your lavender pieces?

I saw this lavender cab with a fairly intense lavender colour but it was too small for me.
IMG_7611.jpeg

Cant remember if I’ve posted the comparison pics before, I had a helpful session comparing icy pale lavender vs opaque intense blue-lavender and purple-lavender (not sure if this is the right description, the translation is witch-purple in Chinese)

I think it would be difficult to find oval bangles (maybe you can try “gui fei” or “guifei” as well?) in anything other than jadeite or high end nephrite because the oval shape is an “undesirable” shape: manufacturers cut oval bangles under two scenarios:
1) When a slab of material can’t extract any more round bangles but there is still material left over, so they cut ovals
2) When a round bangle has been cut but they subsequently discover an inclusion / crack, so it needs to be cut off

Round bangles are more sought after and achieve higher prices, so when planning a slab of raw jadeite, round bangles are drawn in first (esp to achieve the best zhongshui, colour, and to avoid cracks etc).

However, with cheaper and more plentiful material (like nephrite, agate, potentially carnelian but I’ve not looked into carnelian before), there isn’t the need to be so economical with material. I see oval jadeite bangles relatively frequently in China (maybe one out of every 10/20) but can’t remember seeing one in nephrite and would hazard a guess that no one produces them in agate.

Here is how they plan a slab of jadeite: round bangles in sought-after sizes are drawn on first (54, 55, 56mm inner circumference), then smaller/larger round bangles, then oval bangles, and then rings etc. I’ve taken the liberty in blue to show where an oval bangle may end up, so as to avoid the crack in the material

IMG_7612.jpeg

And in scenario 2, when a larger round bangle has an imperfection (blue zigzag) and it’s better to cut it into an oval (white) than an unfeasibly smaller round (blue)
