I bought a pair of icy jadeite snakes and had one set as a ring (with a foil back).
Finally I add my ring, that I am really loving wearing! I was waiting until I could do the shopping cart photo, inspired by mellowyellowgirl! It cracks me up. I see Crimson does these photos too! I added a produce shot as well. I love the encouragement to wear my ring anywhere and everywhere!
Omg!!!! LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!!!!
Beautiful beautiful ring and she looks amazing on you! She’s soooooo glowy as well!!!!!
Yay! Thanks for sharing your joy, @Odyessy44! Your manicure and the jadeite really set one another off. Love the watermelon shot! Yes, wear it anywhere and everywhere you pleaseFinally I add my ring, that I am really loving wearing! I was waiting until I could do the shopping cart photo, inspired by mellowyellowgirl! Spotted this pair of 14mm x 2mm green circular “no trouble” plaque (slightly different to bi which have rounded edges).
When I asked if the edges could be rounded off, the seller said that it’s too thin to undergo more grinding. They also said that, if it was a traditional bi, the pricing would be much more (which I agree with, but need to take into consideration that traditional bi need to be thicker for the same diameter).
The base is glutinous-icy (see the plaques held up against the light) and the streaks of green are slightly lighter in colour than my photos (on-ear shots are more accurate).
The best thing is, I didn’t need to have them set! My Tiffany DBTY studs fit the central holes perfectly so I simply thread them through.
I guess they qualify as a pair of green jade ear jackets?!

sometimes odds and ends work out as well as the projects they almost became part of
sometimes better !
and these guys get to be worn often !
Enjoying your pastel coloured bracelets @Begonia ! Your Myanmar beads have lovely zhongshui. Forgive my ignorance, what is borscht jadeite?
I just received this pair of small jadeite studs. Can you believe the settings cost more than 4x the jadeite cabochons itself?! That’s because of the black dots, which I figured wouldn’t be noticeable once on the ear (and if someone does notice them, they’re probably too close).
Photos under direct sunlight and diffused light:
Comparing the cabs (top pair) with singles (bottom two). My pair of cabs were less than 1/10-15th the price of the singles due to the difference in cleanliness and glow. It’s pretty stark how extra glow exponentially affects the price!
ETA: these cabs are set with “closed back” to enhance the glow.
As per the image above, unset pieces that aren’t top quality are often sold with a silver foil paper backing to enhance the glow (you can just about see the outline of the paper around the cabs). You can of course ask for the silver foil paper to be removed when making an assessment.

Those are pure loveliness! They g l o w.
It's an old saying. Borscht is cabbage soup and the saying means my stuff is pretty cheap. Mine are also low quality but I am a beader on a budget so bought what was available locally and very inexpensive.

@Pomelo, those studs go so well with your other earrings.
You made some really important.
Glow counts for a lot in jadeite, as it does in emerald and spinel.
Thanks for sharing about the foil. It doesn’t just help the jadeite to glow, but in some cases, it also hides any flaws on the back of the stone.
