Hi all,

First time poster, been following quite intently but only for the past few weeks. Whiteflash diamonds have always caught my eye but I worry about the long distance and duties exchange rates, other variables if purchasing from Australia. Still contemplating going with them but have also looked at diamond exchange / jogia here. Ideally trying to find a diamond between 1.4-1.7 carats eye clean with the best cuts possible and subsequently largest size with color up to H/I for approx 12-17k aud.

Stumbled upon this one for ~ 17k aud if I were to claim back GST

Wondering if there are any striking concerns? Most angles are within the parameters aside from table being a bit high at 58%.

Any advice would be much appreciated!!

That stone is also listed on Blue Nile for USD$13,713 (listing is currently showing that is pending sale which means to that you have either reserved it through Jogia or someone else has)

Specs look good and HCA is giving me a score of 0.9

The thing though that has me scratching my head is that the video on Blue Nile doesn’t appear to correlate with the one that Jogia has provided to you. The BN vid appears to show what looks like some feathers or clouds under the table facet when Jogia’s just looks clean apart from that crystal under the table.

Unless in the vid when taken for BN, that stone wasn’t cleaned properly.

Wow that is some professional observation. I thought all the diamonds on Jogia were directly from Australia so this is something new to me as I hadn’t ventured into the large database within blue Nile or James Allen with my novice eyes.

I wasn’t the one who reserved this stone!

Curious as to whether an online diamond that I cannot see in person can potentially perform at the same level as an equivalent specced white flash if I look hard enough. I feel like specifications and photos / videos may not offer me mind clean reassurance when making such a large purchase. Maybe I should just accept the extra few thousand in exchange fees and duties and get a safe quality guaranteed diamond from WF :(

Looking at Jogia "ideal" diamonds in comparison to Whiteflash (Not calculating additional transport / duties / etc)
Here is what I narrow down when I put in desired parameters.

https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3947713.htm - $12028 USD

https://www2.jogiadiamonds.com.au/images/certs/J10385366-image.jpg
~ $11500USD

Also could anyone from Australia could pitch in with regards to how much total % more I would be expected to pay if buying from Whiteflash / Brian Gavin / JA / BN compared to from a local website Like Jogia?
A good portion of my indecisiveness also comes from the unknown variables due to unawareness

That stone is from virtual inventory. Only Jogia’s Crossfire & Signature Selection ranges are in-house.

$17k aud max budget doesn’t take into account GST upon importation, so realistically your budget if buying offshore for the stone alone will be about AUD$15k (up to say USD$12k).

Ay WF that’ll get you a 1.35-1.5ct stone just off a quick search of their inventory list.

1.443ct H VS2 is the largest eyeclean I can find at around USD$12k from WF: https://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3947713.htm

Over at Jogia, from their in house range:
1.35 D SI1 - https://www.jogiadiamonds.com.au/diamonds/diamonditem.php?code=SS3086

1.58 F SI2 - https://www.jogiadiamonds.com.au/diamonds/diamonditem.php?code=SS3183

Anything from Jogia that has a stock code beginning with J is from virtual inventory.

Not particularly liking that second selection you found from Jogia’s international inventory search. Looks like it may have been painted pavilion side to the detriment of its look (too much contrast for my liking).

You found the same WF stone that I did. Add another 10-15% on top for GST and import charges. Pay using a non-bank FX vendor and you will be paying less AUD than if you went through a bank.

The F SI2 has potential but you'd really have to be sure it's eye clean to your standards and that the twinning wisps weren't having a negative effect.

Scratch the middle one, the proportions aren't the best.

The WF diamond is the pick of the bunch in this case if it's doable with the extra charges.

Does Australia have lesser import taxes from the EU or Singapore? That would open up CBI and JannPaul. You could also look at Halloway Diamonds, which is owned by the inventor of the HCA tool

Free Trade Agreement discussions between Australia and the EU commenced in Dec 2017 from memory.

We do have a FTA with Singapore but I am unsure whether the usual 5% customs duty is reduced or not on jewellery and/or loose diamonds.
