My logical side says why pay for stones that can't be seen. My bling loving side says if I can have more diamonds, give me more diamonds! I love the look of a full eternity, and hope to have one one day!!
I have a 3/4 eternity with 20 pointers. The first day or so, I was aware of "feeling" something between my fingers, but after that, I didn't even notice it. The 3/4 is perfect for me, b/c even if it spins, the metal never shows, but there is enough metal that the ring can be sized a couple of sizes if it needs to be in the future.
{quote} I've seen at least one 3 three stone ring that was made with a larger carat weight eternity band-maybe .20pt stones (cannot remember who it belongs to). It's beautiful, but I really don't get it. It just seems like a significant amount of spend for something you're really not going to see much. And I worry about damaging the stones.
All this being said, I do have a cheapy bezel set eternity band that I wear and do enjoy, but I can't say I would ever spend a thousands for one.
What are your thoughts? Or if you have one, why did you choose it?[/quote]
Guilty! I have a 3-stone ring that I wear with an eternity band with .20pt stones. (see avatar). I also have a 9-stone ring with .20pt stones a 5-stone with .32pt stone and an eternity band with .05pt stones. I alternate bands with my 3-stone. I smiled when I read this post because this is how I felt BEFORE I had my full eternity ring. Originally my eternity band was a shared prong that sat up somewhat high and I could feel it between my fingers. I had a problem with loose stones (as I do wear my rings 24/7) so had the setting changed to a 4-prong low setting. The prongs are square and very flat so it is really comfortable to wear. I had my 9-stone made to match. I actually prefer it to my 5-stone ring as this ring spins and I'm always straightening it out. As well, the stones are set very close together in a trellis setting and I don't like the way it only covers the top of my fingers an doesn't wrap so I'm thinking of adding 2 more .32pt stones and changing it to a 7-stone. I find that I always seem to notice the stones palm-side up so really like the bling it offers. I guess it just comes down to personal preference.
I don't get them at all. I hate having things in between my fingers, I much prefer the smooth surface of just metal. I also just can't imagine having a gorgeous eternity band made and then not being able to size it! I just don't have that kind if disposable jewelry budget. I also tend to hit my rings on the bottom pretty badly, I would be breaking or chipping diamonds for sure.
